  yes ... you heard me correctly.

  sometime ago we saw how chimps made tools by using other tools.

  we saw how they learned language and could construct a basic sentance on their own, as well as learn to read a little ... well now ... a new study has been completed where monkeys were paid tokens for completing certain tasks ... the monkeys saved up their tokens ... and then they were offered to trade their tokens for things like food, etc.

  It's been quite a while since I've visited this board, but I see the grist hasn't changed much in the mill. Still a lot of "I can prove your theory is wrong, so that proves my theory is right!" thinking. But hey, the truth is out there! Somewhere! So carry on!

  a convicted murderer getting executed or a convicted murderer being released after serving the minimum of a life sentence, 15 years?.

  btw, before anyone even mentions the low recidivism rate of murderers, you must realize that that is only for those that have been caught.

  First of all, the question I posed had nothing to do with an innocent individual. That's another issue.

  be sure that the opinion you have is actually one you REALLY feel, rather than one you lipsynch due to conditioning.

  I believe, if you'll re-read my post, you'll notice I didn't give an opinion. I merely posed a question, which, incidentally, with all that you said, you did not answer.

  the word "bigot" seems to be a word frequently used by jws.

  i have also noticed that it is used frequently by participants on this board.

  i have been called a bigot a couple of times by jws because i ask too many question they cannot answer.. .

  First let me say, I've found all most of the above quite intriguing. A lot has been said, pro and con, about capital punishment. But I'm really curious about something. Maybe the Englishman would be willing to comment on this. Let's say someone, a total stranger, comes into my home, rapes my wife, then cuts her throat and she dies in a pool of her own blood. If capital punishment is not an appropriate course of action toward this individual, in this enlightened and civilized society, then, (1) just what is the appropriate course, and (2) why so?

  I agree with Happyman that this is not typical of JWs. These particular folks are obviously a bit more deranged in their thinking than the average JW. But you know, it strikes me that "the truth" seems to attract quite a good number of folks who are a just couple of cans shy of a six-pack!

  Where is Satan the Devil on Easter Sunday?

  according to the bible,down through the centuries the devil has demonstrated that he is the arch-opposer of both god and man.

  easter sunday celebrates the resurrection of jesus and he is now able to bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death,satan the devil.. the resurrection happened 2,000 yrs.

  ago.was satan brought to nothing then,or is he still around?where is satan the devil on easter sunday?.

  Is everyone bitter against JW's?

  i have to post this question, because as i was trying so hard to talk to my husband about what i am learning and what others are saying, he is saying i am not doing this objectively at all, and only hearing things from bitter exjw's who are angry at the org for something.

  i say this isn't true, i wasn't searching for answers due to a negative occurance in my life, and i don't believe everyone here was either.

  I'm not bitter at the individuals I happen to know who are still JWs. Most of them, I dearly love. But I despise the manipulative and deceitful organization which has them in it's grip.

  He says I am only emotional about this, and trying to find reasons to prove all the things I have learned as wrong.

  Isn't he the one who should be able to show reasons why he, or you, should accept the teachings of the WBTS as "the truth". My wife is still an active JW, but she also tries to be a balanced and sensible person. Trying to appeal that reason and sensibility, I recently proposed this to her:

  Give me just one solid thing, not something contingent on interpretation or perception, not an assumption, but something concrete and provable, that the Watchtower Society has ever said which has actually come to pass or can be established as truth and which should convince any reasonable, objective minded person that it is indeed the sole earthly recipient of God's spirit and direction.

  The only response I have received thus far, was just a puzzled look. But, I do believe it caused her to stop and think, just a little!

  How much money would it take for you to go out in service?

  say you had to go out in field service for 2 hours in your neighborhood and talk to your neighbors about jehovah.

  what would somebody have to pay you to do this or would you not do it for any amount of money?

  if i am going to humilate myself it better be worth my while.
