JW Parenting Vs. Your Own
by pettygrudger ini'm interested in knowing how any of you now raise your children.
we all know how the majority of jw children are raised - berated, guilt-ridden, low self-esteem, spanked regularly, obey in fear, etc.
neither have ever been spanked, i've never really raised my voice to them in anything other than a stern tone, and i don't punish for individual thought or action (unless they are/were in jeopardy of hurting themselves or others emotionally, mentally or physically).

I cannot put into words how shitty my childhood was. I was denied an identity. I was THE best athlete in my small school and had to watch the football team walk past my house every day, to the practice field in the late summer. I would go out in the garage and fight back tears. Deep down I knew I was getting the shaft. Nobody understood my pain. I still carry it.

I saw Willie Nelson the other day- I tell you what, that kid can pick a guitar. Very talented and very entertaining. Highly recommended
Another talented guy is Lyle Lovett-Im not kidding he is a pure entertainer-worth checking out
Saw the Stray Cats a few years back-talk about a great time- live rockabilly is really where its at.

Hmm...A Solution?
by pettygrudger inwith all the anger i've seen here in the last few days, with all the snide comments, insults, etc.
i am humbly offering the following solution:.
since simon is to kind hearted and allows everyone to post their opinions and viewpoints at will, i suggest we have him enlist the aid of moderators from wol & greatcrowd.net to moderate individual postings and decide what should stay & what should go?

Its too bad we are all so spread out. What we really need is a party. Ill bring the keg. Everyone can have one on me and we will all chill out. I am not sure why, but it is always easier to put things in perspective when your with friends, and have a cold one in your hand. I think communication is a lot better when people are actually together.
Maybe we could get our own version of Sturgis going. We can all show up in our 2 DOOR CARS and talk about what we thought "the new system" was gonna be like.

You know what the saddest thing is about these wacko parents; is that they totally feel like what they are doing is loving and right.
I know I am probably opening a can of worms here but I really wish someone would have stepped in and taken legal action on my behalf(rescued me).
I mean come on! There are Jdub parents who to this day are keeping kids out of choir, sports, and band in the name of God and LOVE - poor kids are gettin the shaft just for the sake of being different. What a crock!

My folks were the same way. Now that I am grown, I can hardly stand em. It was abuse in my opinion.
