Keep in mind that macro-economics is ultimately a social science. The bottom line is that people will find ways to meet basic needs despite the value of the U.S. dollar. I know I will.
jesus pointed out the hypocrisy of those in his day whose faithlessness led them to become intransigent in the face of jesus' credentials as the messiah and all that that entailed as to jehovah's judgments.
likewise, the prophets indicate that ridiculers and apostates will proclaim themselves to be unconvinced concerning the evidence of christ presence and impending judgment of this system.
jesus' rebuke is equally applicable today, where he acknowledged that his generation was expert in using their powers of reason to interpret the changing clouds and winds to accurately predict the next day's weather, and yet jesus said of them: "hypocrites!

i've always been taught that each disciple of christ has a scriptural obligation to preach, and to do so in imitation of jesus and his disciples.
they did this by house to house, in synagogues, and in the marketplaces.
this is one thing that has always kept me close to jehovah's witnesses.
Thanks for that response Goph. My father- in- law brought this up to me too(out of the blue). All I told him was that I see Mormons out doing the same thing(going door to door) and they have more members, so what is your point. Then he said that they dont procalim the Kingdom message like JW's do but I wasnt in the mood for wrangling(I had better things to do). I was getting ready to go fishing that morn with my son. I could have went on and on and told him that even Paul and Peter and Jesus dont preach the same message as Jdubs, but it is a waste of time for me.
One thing to add- wasnt the commision to preach and to baptize in the name of the Father,Son and Holy Spirit? Do the Witnesses even do this anymore?
hey everyone, here is a fun little test..... : http://www.mystcweb.net/misc/smart.htm.
enjoy .
love.
I got all 11. Told me I was 1 out of only four people to get all 11.
Then it said my love life was gonna get really good. WOW!
i have a question about the infamous blood issue, which i am sure will be very easy for some people to answer.. in the bible, niv, nwt, kj or whatever, the line, '...you should abstain from blood...' is taken literally by the witnesses and they do not take into account other scriptures whilst reading it.. what other scriptures are there in the bible to support the theory that the writer's intended meaning was not to take it literally?
so, in other words, i have argued with jws that it means to not drink blood as there were no iv needles around then to inject the blood into the veins.
but are there any other scriptures to back this up?.
This scripture in Matt 12:10-12 pretty much sums up the silliness of a "blood issue"(there is no issue). Am I missing something here? Please tell me if I am. Please!
10 and, look! a man with a withered hand! So they asked him, "Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?" that they might get an accusation against him. 11 He said to them:"Who will be the man among you that has one sheep and, if this falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not get hold of it and lift it out? 12 All considered, of how much more worth is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do a fine thing on the Sabbath."
Even Jesus realized that there are exceptions to the law. Especially if human life is on the line.
How can the Society ignore this lesson from Jesus? How can they so rigidly enforce a law over basic mercy? I simply cannot understand how they can actually keep members in the face of dead kids.
i couldn't stay away.
i love you guys.. abaddon's and ldh's recent posts hit close enough to home that i decided to post again.. i think the selected memory and split personalities go hand in hand.. the selected memory helps keep the cult personality happy and gleaming no matter what damage the suppression does to the real human or the real human's family and friends.. a couple of years ago i was talking about my childhood with my parents and they both acted stunned when i said i was still angry with them because they didn't want me to go to college (i gave up several scholarship offers, etc.
to become a pioneer and eventually go to bethel).
13 to 1 Hey JoelB!!

Correcting Wrong Impressions
Still, there are people who accuse Jehovah's Witnesses of being out of step
with human society. This is mainly because of the Witnesses' Bible-based
position on such matters as blood transfusions, neutrality, smoking, and
morals. But the public is increasingly beginning to admit that the views of
the Witnesses have merit. For example, a doctor in Poland phoned the
administrative office of Jehovah's Witnesses and said that she and her
colleagues at the hospital had for several hours been debating the subject of
blood transfusions. The discussion was triggered by an article that appeared
that day in the Polish daily Dziennik Zachodni. "I personally regret that
blood is overused in the medical field," the doctor admitted. "This must be
changed, and I am happy someone has broached the subject. I would like more
information."
During a conference held last year, medical authorities from Canada, Europe,
Israel, and the United States discussed material designed to help doctors
treat patients without the use of blood. It was pointed out at this meeting,
held in Switzerland, that contrary to popular opinion, the mortality rate of
patients who received blood transfusions is actually higher than that of
patients who did not. Witness patients were generally able to leave the
hospital sooner than those treated with blood, which in turn usually cut down
the cost of treatment.

i ask this because on this and other forums that have a large share of former jws, our stated experiences and encounters during and after our jw membership seem to reflect that the wts and its body of believers are most corrupt.
likewise, those never associated who read our posts may get the impression that even visiting a kingdom hall may result in serious negative events.. i believe that it is important to remind everyone that the average jw is a generally good person.
most try to live good lives, act on their beliefs, and promote what they feel is the truth.
Alan- this is how my JW mother responded to your thread. How would you reply? Anyone
I agree that there may "things" an adherent may go along with that they do
not necessarily have a personal conviction about. I think this is perhaps
true no matter what 'religion' a person attaches themselves to.
But I do personally believe that if a person, for whatever reason, does not
want to align themselves with a particular religious organization it is
sufficient to leave. To continue to attack the religion and to justify their
position in doing so serves no useful purpose. It is better for me to see
the fallacy of my religion on my own than for someone to attempt to convince
me by attacking it. For me that casts a dubiousness on the attacker.
mommy,.
in another thread you stated to me,.
: my mother, when we spoke said that she beleives the org should have new information come out(new light brighter and brighter).
