I think the larger point is that he calculates U.S. loan debt at nearly 20 Trillion and and our unfunded obligations as a nation at nearly 100 Trillion. This equates to $800,000 of debt per family. In the span of only 35 to 40 years the United states has descended from the greatest lender nation in the world to the greatest debtor nation in human history.

I think it is appropriate for a believer to search the scriptures for answers. I certainly never made this connection before.

Sad situation unfolding on FB

there are reports on one of the facebook ex jw groups that a 19 year old girl who disassociated herself last week was physically attacked by her family and so she tried to commit sucide by shooting herself.

she's in a critical state in hospital.

i don't know all the details but it would appear that she had endured sexual abuse.. please keep her in your thoughts.. .

Exactly....faith in something you can see isn't faith. How in the world did we miss that? Biblical faith takes way more hutzpah than faith in an organization.

this is a very good find from another jw only web site i have access to... hey i just found this on a link of my mom's that she is "friends" with, yes, still a jw...anyway, i had to copy/paste it so you could all see, thought it was a bit hilarious to see how they blatantly speak of keeping info from "outsiders.

" i did not copy the name of the person since that is not my point and i am not that disrespectful, but i did copy their comment...they were discussing the wt about killing all apostates and someone that was studying asked a question as to whether they all thought that was right or not, so here it is..............."james... although its a great article and very encouraging, as apostates do deserve to be murdered, it may not be such a good idea to reveal it our friend zeek at this moment.

he may find it a tad over the top.

My only own regret when I left

my parents are still witnesses, i read coc, isocf and conceptoc, then decided not to attend meetings.. i told them everything i knew about what was written and this pushed them away from me and further into the "truth", we still talk like a normal family but when a topic merges that i speak about jw's i get shunned, they don't comment.

i didn't understand why they continued to believe after i mentioned gb voting system, un, and others, i also mentioned about ray franz and what the bible really says, dad asked me why not i just join his (ray's) religion since i know so much.. i knew about hassans books but didn't see them necessary at the time, but i didn't understand why they are acting this way.

i just finished releasing the bonds, now i understand why they acted the way they did and why they didn't listen, my only regret was not reading this and combating cult mind control earlier.. so we were all brought up in the truth, all my family members are in the truth, during the years they were taught not to think anything negative about the religion - that's how you loose part of your critical thinking skills (remenber how the brothers kept remind of how happy we all are.).

I said things that for them seemed that I wanted them to change to another religion when in fact it's general Christianity. - I should have been more careful and shown 'd my motives to be out of true love-true love overcomes conditional love.

This is the first response I got from my family years ago as well. My mother asked me if I was going to start my own church. I was shocked because I could see that she was more than half serious.

A better tack may be to ask the JW to explain from the scriptures how they can get their sins forgiven since Jesus isn't their Mediator, they are not justified, and they are not born again. All acknowledged by the Watchtower and yet; required for Salvation in the New Testament.

If a person avoids critizing the Watchtower altogether, and just sticks to salvation ... it may delay the inevitable for a while longer.

Anyway, don't beat yourself up. Sooner of later you will be directly challenged as to your loyalty to Christ or to the WT. When you choose Christ it is the same to them as you choosing the devil.

My only regret, having had time to evualate all the gains and losses is that I only had one dearly loved family to say good-bye to.

JWs and Jesus

as many of you already know, i was raised in the "truth", 3rd generation on my mother's side, 5th or something on my dad's side so i've been a jw for a long time, not so much now.. anyway, those of you who either spent a long time in the religion or who actually came from a regular christian religion first or became one later, did any of you notice how jws feel about jesus?

though they're supposed to be "true" christians, they don't talk about christ much or don't talk about his sacrifice much.

i know jws (and i) don't believe in the trinity but what's wrong with being more thankful to him for what he did for us?

I dedicated myself to Jehovah four years earlier (I have anxiety problems so I didn't get baptized right away) but if I want to be a Christian do I need to dedicate my life to God and Christ? I'm not sure.

You must be born again. That is what Jesus told Nicodemus.

When you get born again you get a new spirit... and a new destiny.

I wonder if eye-witnesses like Peter, James and John considered thenselves as fundamentalists or intellectuals? A few backwards fishermen started a global movement by inviting people to love their enemies, abandon themselves, and worship a bloodied disfigured crucified man who said he was God and proved it.

No one could make this stuff up. It is the unlikliest of all possible stories. What is there to reclaim? It is what it is. Why change it?
