It's not bad, with that performance. But at the local hall here, they make it sound awful!

chapter 13. they get my heart, soul and my body.

saturday morning i was up at 6:30. it was fun trying to share small bathroom with seven other guys, all trying to get ready in 20 minutes.

i threw some cloths on and headed to first “morning worship.” gilbert said i could sit on his table since there was an extra space there.

I visited my brother who was at Bethel in the 70's, and I recall the same table scene that Keith describes. The visitors (like me) and the new boys stood out like a sore thumb because they didn't have the table methods down right. Passing the food the wrong direction, etc, got a swift correction.

I had never heard of Blunden before now, but if he died at 75 in 1915, he would have been one of the older of the Bible Students. I wonder about his role, what years he was a director, etc.

So how did JF Rutherford function...?

every picture i have seen at him at beth shirim and other private places are with a bottle of alcohol.. while for me personally i couldn't care less anymore.... for jw's this is low moral character.

so i'm an going to guess he was a functioning alcoholic... how did that work with his closest workers?

was he gay too?

There is a video out there of Rutherford sitting at a table and drinking, but there is no bottle and while it is likely it is alcohol, it is uncertain. I detest Rutherford personally, but I think his drinking is overblown. His general mean- spiritedness did more to hurt the JWs than any alcohol usage.

I love that era and genre of music. His performance of Gentle on my mind is very moving to me. The tune was written by John Hartford, of course, but Campbell made it a hit.

I was in Paris in June and was also surprised by the police presence. We were unable to get close the Eiffel tower that day because the area was closed off. Supposedly there was to be a motorcade coming through, but we were around there about an hour and nothing came. The police are everywhere, with full gear, vests and rifles.

But then, we went to a train station to take a train to the south of France, and we boarded the train with our luggage, and no one asked for our tickets or even looked our way the whole time. We just got on and rode for 4 hours. Go figure.

i was reading a master degree thesis from a student from universidad autonoma de nuevo leon, regarding religious associations taxation in mexico on it there is a note/citation from a open letter that the watchtower sent to the president of france, and paid the new your times to publish it, regarding the attack and violation of human rights by imposing a taxation of 60% of the donations given in a period of 4 years.

i don't know if you had heard about it, but for me it is the first time i know about this letter.
