Laugh-out-Loud BS from Insight Book
by berrygerry inhow would it be possible in 1,000 years to resurrect and educate the billions now in the grave?.
nevertheless, an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing jehovah has in mind for mankind.
not to prophesy, but merely for the purpose of illustration, let us assume that those who compose the great crowd of righteous persons who come out of the great tribulation on this system of things alive (re 7:9, 14) number about 6,000,000 (about 1/1000 of earths present population).

You can't make sense out of nonsense. I wonder if the old AID book said the same thing. It probably did, and the Insight volume just copied it. -

Where to draw the line: how Platonism haunts our discourse and the search for exorcism
by slimboyfat inin the discussion about race i adopted a position i am not entirely comfortable with.
i think there is a sense in which it is useful to distinguish categories of description that can be fruitfully defended (apples and bananas) and those that cannot (caucasian or other racial descriptions for example).
but there is a more fundamental sense in which i believe that everything is socially constructed, every single line you can think of.

I suggest that SBFs autocorrect function put in the word exorcism. Maybe he meant something else, as it doesn't fit. -

What is the story behind this picture of Rutherford at a drinking party??
by EndofMysteries ini have seen this photo several times but never any back story on it.
was this at bethel?
was this before or after the prohibition?

I greatly dislike Rutherford, but I'm not convinced this is an alcohol drinking party. Without the context it's hard to say.
Kind of reminds me of a photo of MLK back in the fifties that had the caption 'Martin Luther King at a Communist training camp!' When it was really King as he was listening to Pete Seeger play the banjo. Quite funny to hear Seeger tell it.

My Bethel Experience Part 2 Memory Lane
by new boy inback to the food..........the saying there was "its the best food in the world before they cook it" the coffee was the really bad.
they would take a 55 lb.
bag of good coffee beans and boil the shit out of it.the joke was if anyone could find the guy that made the coffee, and kill him, our production would go up and armageddon could finally come.

I seem to remember that the old timers name was Wilmer Ruth rather than Wilbur. I only met him a time or two so maybe I am mistaken. -

Is the Pioneer School being eliminated?
by wannaexit ini heard from the semi reliable source that the pioneer schools will go the way of the dodo bird next year.. i could see this happening.
it used to be that you went to the the pioneer school once.

I was told, 'pioneer for a year and you'll never regret it!' I did so, and I regret it. Wasted a year, came out of the year loathing the service. They told me I could go to pioneer school, but I was so sick of it I didn't go. This was about 1980 or so -

Hmm, so the teachers are overlapping! Maybe this is where they came up with the overlapping partaker idea. All makes sense now! -

Funny, the Bethelites used to have a lunchtime softball league that I played with one time, and it looks like it may have been at this location. It was all on concrete, (they played with an in-seam softball so as to not have the cover coming off all the time). The park we played at may very well be the same as described in the article. -

Blood Cards on File with the Elders?
by EyesOpenHeartBroken ini have a question for elders here or recent elders.
were the elders, in the last 10 years, given instruction to keep a copy of every publishers blood card on file at the kh?.
we moved to our current cong 6 years ago, and shortly after we moved in, the boe requested everyone update and give a copy of card to the kh.

I have never been asked for a copy of the blood card. Good thing, cause I don't have one anyway -

I believe that the designation of pioneer with a time requirement was to qualify then as full time ministers. It was all about presenting a record for the draft board. Just my theory.
