I think the OP is a troll just trying to get a rise out of people. It's pointless. -

Helen Keller WAS a hero, to say otherwise is silly. Why is this a topic in this forum, anyway? -

Hebrew Was The First Language
by Bloody Hotdogs! inaccording to the newest watchtower:.
jehovah communicated with adam in the garden of eden, using human language.
god likely did so in an ancient form of hebrew.

This belief about Hebrew was taught back in the sixties, then they went to the interpretation that the 'pure language' was truth, and not a literal language. Now it looks like they've done another flip-flop. -

Did you know that President Jimmy Carter used to be a Jehovah's Witness?
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.christianpost.com/news/jimmy-carter-says-jesus-would-not-support-abortion-revealing-only-conflict-between-his-politics-and-christian-faith-141881/.
carter said that as a young man he used to be a jehovah's witness before he was a baptist christian.. .
"it's hard to grow up with such a foundational system and just let it go.

The original article in the NY Times is very clear that it was Woodson who was a JW when younger, not Pres. Carter. She seems to speak favorably of the experience. The ChristianPost article is simply wrong. -

Elderly sister disgusted with obscene Bethel 'Happy Song'
by Esse quam videri init is reported that one elderly sister in british columbia expressed complete disgust at what she considered an obscene act in the bethel 'happy song'.
now everything is, of course, subject to perspective.
i would imagine her perspective is just as valuable as anyone elses.

There is a lot of sexual imagery in advertising and art. If the video had been choreographed then the elderly woman may have had a point about the chain saw. However, it is probably not planned, so it is not something to make a deal about. Looks dangerous though, as a saw like that has a lot of sharp blades on the chain.

The JWs are growing in some third world countries at a much higher rate than in the Western countries. What will happen in time is a movement away from the U.S. to other parts of the world. The problem is that there is little or no money there and it becomes an issue of financing rather than numbers of adherents. The WT faces the problem of trying to finance the world evangelizing while their traditional breadbasket (US primarily) is drying up. -

Angelo Catanzaro
by Room 215 ini recently heard angelo catanzaro, a rather prominent figure in the organization .. a long-time district overseer and a favorite of knorr's, died recently.
there was some indication that he and his wife figured out ttatt in their latter years and turned "apostate"... .
does anyone out there know what happened to them?

I remember the name Catanzaro as a CO in the Chicago area in the Sixties. That being fifty years ago, it seems likely that there have probably been various COs or DOs of that name. -

Rutherfords influence on Church of God (7th Day) and Sacred Name Movement
by oppostate inhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sacred_name_movementthe sacred name movement arose in the early 20th century out of the church of god (seventh day) movement, following on the preaching and ideas of joseph franklin rutherford who founded jehovah's witnesses in 1931 based on his belief in the importance of the hebrew name of god.

I would need some verification of this and suggest that the Wikipedia article may have the facts incorrect. I have a copy of Melton's Encylopedia 1991 version which does not mention Rutherford's name in association with any of the Sacred Name movements. There are definitely some similarities with the Watchtower movement, but the direct connection needs further support.
