Where do I go for support???

i would love some support since i am scared and confused, but i don't know where to turn.

my husband and i are both having our eyes opened wide after years of doubts.

we have finally read the "apostate literature" over the past few weeks and have checked and rechecked their sources.

Someone mentioned having your husband start independent bible studies at home using the bible alone. Here is a good outline to use.

You also ask for suggestions on how you could begin to celebrate the holidays - why not try doing some holiday baking that matches your Cultural Heritage. For instance, Germans, Swedish, and Norwegians all have very distinct cookies and other backed holiday recipes. Search the internet for information and holiday recipes. Here are just a few I came up with.

If you want to begin making Christmas memories this year, you could begin by having your kids bake and make decorations that matched your cultural heritage.

Off to Oregon - Merry Christmas

my children have decided to fly me back to oregon to spend christmas with them.

this will be the first time i have seen my family since february 2001 and since my heart attack ... so this is a special time for them and me - and i get to see all my grandchildren.

i promised to make three finale posts ... i have written two of them but i am holding off until i can think them through more and be sure of what i want to say ... so i may post them soon or when i get back on the 27th.

i told my husband last week that i didn't plan on going to chats or forums.

we've been trying very hard to stay on neutral ground.

we began by just researching all the history of jws and turning to the publications published by the society, to either back the history we were reading, or to dispel it.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

There are several things that you and your family can begin to do that will allow you to establish new friendships outside of the KH. If your kids like sports, there are lots of city parks that offer team sports. Enroll your kids in some of these. If questions come up at the KH just explain that since you home school your kids, you thought that it was a good idea and very educational. END of story. Sure they will begin to view you both as "spiritually weak", but that is ok because that is the beginning of Phase One in doing the slow fade process.

Go as a family to ALL practises and games. Some of these events are bound to conflict with KH meeting nights. That also gives you a good excuse to answer nosey elders questions about why you are not at meetings any more. "Oh, I'm so sorry to have missed a 'few' meetings, but you see, my son was at hockey practice/game those nights and we have chosen to do this as a FAMILY event. We'll try harder to be more regular at meetings in the future." That said just continue to miss even more meetings.

After awhile maybe you or your husband could also coach some of these teams. There are endless possibilities here of meeting new friends outside the KH all the while doing the slow fade.

If sports aren't the answer, then there are always recreational classes in the arts and hobbies field that are offered through many city park programs.

Both you and your husband could get involved with a hobby club - dolls, crafts, cars, snowmobile, cross-country skiing, skating/roller-blading, and the list is endless. That is also a way to meet new friends and to "become too 'busy' to make it to meetings".

Rev,

Bill is still thinking and ACTING like a typical Watchtower trained "JW Elder". He may have resigned from the role of elder and been DF'd against his will for his SilentLambs work, but he still has the Watchtower mindset ingrained so deeply he is unable to see the forest for the trees. It will take time to deprogram that mindset.

Maybe a few chats with David A Reed might help him to deprogram faster. I don't know, that was just a thought off the top of my head.

(Bill, if you are reading this - Please, Please try to see how your behavior is only hurting your cause. You are losing your reputation for being trustworthy.)

Feathers in a pillow and words, whether spoken or written, are quite alike somehow. When either are scatered in the wind, it is hard to gather them all up again.

This entire situation reminds me of something that happened to me years and years ago.

I was not feeling well a certain day, but choose to go to my place of employment anyway. I did not feel like smiling when I got to the office. Someone made a simple comment about my looking grumpy - another person heard the comment and made another wrong assumption and so on down the line as I walked to my desk. By the time I reached my desk I was in very, very deep trouble with my boss for "MY" BAD ATTITUDE! I had not said a word. When I reached my desk, I tried to explain that I wasn't feeling well, but to no avail, the damage had already been done, opinions had already been formed.

Moral of the story - Be sure you have all the facts before you begin to broadcast something far and wide. You will NEVER be able to gather all the words up again. They are gone forever.

Please read further down in the thread - Matt called BB on the phone and got everything straightened out. BB has since sent out a 2nd letter which is also posted in the thread explaining that everthing was a misunderstanding - mainly due to emails on both sides not being delivered, thus no comunication causing a vacuum to develop. The reason pass words were changed is because the sight got "hacked" twice.

It seems to me that BB needs to watch where he puts his feet - ie - open mouth-insert foot--he needs to THINK before he opens his mouth (or writes).

Impulsive ones end up regreting things that they say/write. A good rule to follow is to wait at least 24 hrs after the first mean-spirited thought comes to mind, before saying/writing anything negative about someone.
