If I got myself disfellowshipped, do you think my ex-wife would shun me to the extent of refusing to accept any more alimony checks from me?

May 21, 2011 - The Rapture Cometh!
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inharold camping has promised that the rapture will be on may 21, 2011.. .
they've put it on this van that "the bible guarantees it", so it must be true!.
after all, would this face lie?.

Actually the invisible beginning of the end was in 1994, the first time Camping set a date for the return of Christ. May 21 is supposed to be the culmination. You know, like 1975. ;)

house to house vs. in private homes
by DesirousOfChange indoes not matt 10 suggest that the household would not be those already in the faith?
"not deserving" or "does not take you in or listen".
matt 10:12-14 -- 12 when you are entering into the house, greet the household; 13 and if the house is deserving, let the peace you wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from you return upon you.

Acts 20:20 HAS to mean "in private homes." The context shows that Paul is discussing his teaching of the elders of the Ephesian church. Nothing in the passage suggests anything about a door-to-door proselytizing work. In verse 20, Paul writes, "You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house." The "you" is shown by verse 17 to be the elders; not the regular church members, not the general public. He taught them "from house to house" by visiting the various private homes of the elders, not by going up the street knocking on doors. Unless the Witness is willing to take the position that Paul found a neighborhood, started going down the street knocking on every door until he found an elder of the church and then taught him, there is no warrant whatsoever for using this verse in support of a house-to-house ministry such as that of the JWs.

by stuckinlimbo inhi i need some help to show that the scriptures used to uphold the disfellowshipping policy are actually only meant to apply to those that deny the christ blah blah.

In theory, they should need at least two witnesses to disfellowship you. Oh, wait - that's only if you were a pedophile.

what are your opinions of ewatchman.com
by Evidently Apostate inlooking at some of his responses to comments on his videos on youtube i think he is rude, and condecending, not unlike the jw's he defends.
if he is trying to defend the majority of the doctrine why do it from outside the org?.

i think he is rude, and condecending, not unlike the JW's he defends.
Sounds like he hasn't changed much since he used to post on this board as "You Know," years ago.

From a brother in the Dominican Republic: Trinitarians usually start off with some "proof texts" and then launch into some Greek words they know. I have learned now instead of trying to "duke it out" with them, I bypass all of that by saying, "Let's suppose you are right, the Trinity does exist and we are wrong, then please show me from the Bible what I should do to find the right religion."
I'd be happy to do that, but first, could you show me in the Bible where it says that we should be trying to find the right religion? My Bible says that we are saved through Jesus Christ, not through a religion.

I was wondering if she might have been a follower of Harold Camping. He says that the Rapture will occur on May 21, less than two months from now. I was driving up I-95 in Connecticut yesterday and saw two billboards proclaiming that date, then got home and found an ad in Reader's Digest as well. Word is getting around.
