Dying you will not die?

i have a question that has puzzled me since i got my large print bible...... in genesis 2:17 it states.... but as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.".

the footnote reads.... lit.. " dying you will die.

" okay i understand that... .

Jesus came from heaven, which is not a place but a state of consciousness.

There is only one son, and we are all part of that sonship. We are all one, with God and with each other. Jesus came to help restore that sense of oneness. "The things that I do, shall ye do also, and greater things shall ye do...".Jesus is still here, just vibrating on a higher frequency. He is still communicating with those who are willing to tune up to that higher frequency. Check out Budda, Krishna, Laotze, A Course in Miracles.

Of course you have had a spiritual existence before life on this plane. You just don't remember. You will have a life after this one as well. Part of the price for admission on this plane is that we we forget who and what we really are. How else can we pretend to be doing our own thing? Jesus came for a different purpose so did not block that awareness. God made you perfect, whole, and complete. Do you really think you can change that? Stop thinking of yourself as a flesh body. You are so much more! You have enrolled in a crash course in spiritual development. You can drop the class or sleep through it but, if you do, you will have to repeat it. However, we will complete the course eventually. There are no failing grades.

I don't buy the concept of "ransome sacrifice" because I don't believe in a God that requires sacrifice. I do believe that Jesus came on his own because of his great love for us. I believe that he came to show us how to reconnect. If God's will is that we be one, it is pure arrogance to believe that we can defeat that will. The separation is only in our minds, not God's. We are every bit as much God's son as Jesus was. The difference is that he was not dreaming the dream of separtation and knew very well who he was.

has the society ever come up with any intelligent reasoning to counter the ages that carbon dating/science has given to various artifacts, i.e.

I saw a bit on T.V. recently about DNA testing that shows the we all decended from a one female, I think they have dubbed her Lucy, who may have lived a million years ago in Africa. That includes europeans, africans, chinese, arabs, etc.. She may be the real Eve.

The thing I can't figure out is why everyone thinks that God no longer reveals Himself to mankind just because a bunch of guys got together and "canonized" the Bible.

two questions about Jesus

but i was told by a jw that jesus had short hair.

Jesus was a middle eastern semite and you can bet that he looked like one. He probably had somewhat long hair, but not so long as a female. Depends on what you call long.

Regarding the stake; I don't think there is much evidence to support the WTS position on the stake vs the cross. The Roman method of cruxifiction was designed to produce asphyiation over a long period of time. That purpose was carried out better with a cross piece which allowed the victim to boost himself up to get a breath. Of course, to do that he had to put pressure on the nails in his feet which must have been very painful. When they wanted to speed up the process, they broke their legs so they couldn't boost, or used a spear to kill them. Victims were known to last many days on the cross. In Jesus's case, they sped up the process to avoid having them contaminate the Sabbath.

I wouldn't worry about a literal translation. The tale is an allegory. The statement recognizes the author's understanding that the whole idea of separation from God, the very foundation of this system of things, is based on the belief in two powers, the power for good and the power for evil. Before they ate, they knew only God (Good). When God asks them why they were hiding in the garden, they reply that it is because they are naked. The following words are among the most profound in the Bible. "Who told you that you were naked?" It is, of course, an illusion. There is no reality to the power for evil, only an appearance. We are not now, and never have been separated from God. But it sure seems real to us.

Last week Saint Satan posted a reply to a thread started by Lyin Eyes on "something to believe in". It has been running through my mind all week. It went something like "the good in mankind is God in mankind showing through. We are all slivers of God". I realized that I already knew that, but had let it slip my mind. Today I remembered a quote from the Master's Notebook which is contained in Richard Bach's wonderful book, Illusions. It goes like this:

"Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know as well as you. We are all learners, doers, and teachers."

Some of you may recall the tests done on Swami Rama at a prestigious research institute. They were investigating his ability to control his own heart rate and blood pressure. One of the experimenters causually asked him if was able to stop his heart completely. Instead of answering, he actually stopped his heart completely. That created a panic as he was clinically dead for several minutes. When he restarted his heart (on his own), he was able to describe quite accurately the activity going on on the floor above and next door. I rather doubt that the explanation for this could be "brain misfiring".

I vote with Kelsey! Relationships are too important to lose over a difference in religious beliefs. Your loving acceptance of them as a person regardless of their beliefs is an example of unconditional love which refutes the "conditional love" theology of the WTS. That doesn't mean, however, that you have to give up your own beliefs. I am deeply in love with my JW wife of 44 years, but would not set foot in a Kingdom Hall except for a funeral of one of our closest friends.
