Years ago (on this site, I think) somebody posted a pix of a couple at the door with a Bible with a cross on it. I modified it suitably.
Feel free to use this. Download the jpg and see if it "blows up" cleanly to full sheet on your printer.

since they came out with the study edition of the watchtower magazine in january, i have noticed a trend.
some of you have probably noticed this as well if you have been attending any of the meetings.. with the exception of changing their base doctrine about "this generation" and 1914, the articles don't discuss or reveal or even reiterate doctrine anymore.
marriage mates, parents, children, elderly.
All of the recent books that have been released follow that same theme. They don't teach doctrine but teach how Witnesses should behave. Even the last assembly and convention followed this line of thinking.
The modern Puritans, sure enough. Next thing it will be stocks and pillories on the KH lawn. They've already got a uniform, ala dress code.
Somebody posted a pix of a Puritan a while back; all you need add was a bookbag.

how many here have been asked the loyalty question by an elder.
i am referring to, "do you believe that jehovah is using the faithful and discreet slave class to accomplish his work?
" or something along this line?.
"Oh! That's not for me to decide. The scripture lays the burden on the "slave", and how he is treating the Master's belongings. Not if the belongings accept the slave."
Dagney, I thought your original response was choice

just when you think you've heard it all............in my research for my project, i was doing some digging around on the subject of the 144,000 and came across something in the wts's literature that absolutely stunned me and, being the generous soul that i am , wanted to pass it on to you to get your thoughts on this.. .
we all know that the society teaches that the 144,000 mentioned in revelation is speaking of "spiritual israel" and not 'fleshly israel' or even other christians in general right?
there are countless quotes throughout the literature that we are all familiar with that specifically state this, but to drive home a point, here are a few:.
O, BTW: its best to put inconsistent and pesky thoughts in obscure places

Hmmm.... NOT INTERNALLY CONSISTENT!!!
Having not gone to a meeting in over 30 years, I have never seen the INSIGHT book
But having the AID book w/in 3 feet I looked it up in the corresponding place: sure enough, there it was, essentially word-for-word, w/ a few more scriptures than you mentioned.

Because of only having one elder there, I knew I had some wiggle room. I still wanted to be left alone, so I turned the question back on him. I acted shocked and asked if he asked because HE didn't believe it was true. He recoiled from the thought and that was the end of the conversation.
That's exactly what occurred to me last night when I woke up once.
I am glad I had made the rule that I would only talk to one person at a time. I refused any visits by two elders. Now, I just refuse any visits. They still try to catch me working in yard and will use that as an excuse to stop by and talk. I will talk to them about everyday things, but that's it. My own thoughts on God and religion are my private thoughts and I choose who I wish to speak to about them and when.
Bingo: that's what kept me from getting clobbered towards the end, as I started to put the fade into effect. Then, once I started moving around the country, they lost track of me.
for a while i feel i was implicated by a scatological quagmire of ruffians who wanted nothing more than to cast doubt on the magnanimous glory that is me.
now i feel justified in gaining ascendancy over their impotent crescendo of inane and asinine banter, and thank god that my glory survives unscathed.
as such, i will continue to bless this board with my insights at no charge, other than to exact your praise and worship.
An anagram of asinine is "is inane".

Interesting question. My Baptismal Vows didn't mention that ...
I guess a "1950's Witness" isn't isn't made the way they make them today
My answer would be a non-committal "Interesting...". That's my story and I'm sticking to it. They'd have to nail me on disrespect for not answering JT's Cheese and Cracker men with no real authority.

my wife and i now are organising seperation....she wants me to buy the house directly across the street from her!!??
the house is nice...polished floor boards etc.
i think she wants me there for security as she is afraid to be alone.
That's my mean and spiteful side; my real gut feeling is that the more distance the better after breakups.

Move in across the street: then rent a room to the Insurance Investigator
