My best friend of 35 years is still my best friend. We talk on the phone almost every day and she would drop everything to help me if I needed her, and vice versa. We see each other when we can, but she has to protect herself from gossip, so we are very careful. Her husband is an elder and would also do anything for us, as we were very close once upon a time, but he also has to be careful. Since we are not disfellowshipped, it helps, but even if we were, she would never dump me. She has assured me of that much.
I realize she is unusual for that, but she has her own issues with the WTS, and I am sure she stays in to keep her marriage and family intact.

How did you spend Sunday?
by Crumpet ini spent mine enjoying a traditional sunday romp in the rural idyll that is england, communing with nature.. this, for those who dont know, translates as getting lots of manure on my shoes, nodding politely at passing ramblers, edging away from the well endowed bull, walking for a couple of miles, limbo-dancing under electric fences, and then fighting for a table along with the countryside's finest and their dogs, tucking into a traditional sunday lunch and a pint, then walking it back off - wondering if i a) i just ate one of the bull's babies and b) if i did, can he smell it?!.

We were camping, so started the day with coffee by the campfire overlooking the bay, watching an eagle sitting on top of a tree nearby. Gorgeous view. Our son and his family walked over from their camp and joined us.
After breakfast we played mini golf with our son, his wife, their 8 year old and his 6 year old cousin, one of our other grandsons. About 2 PM we were all packed, the RV cleaned and ready to go, and drove home. It started raining very hard about 20 minutes from home, but the weekend was dry for us.

One of my friends called me Friday to tell me it was in the Everett Herald. She and her husband are JW's, and he is a very prominent elder. He found it first and showed her. Of course I had told her about it earlier in the week. The husband said "of course we have to follow the two witnesses rule, and a lot of this is exaggerated" and that was about all he said.

article on settlement not in our paper, just the online version
by Mulan ini went through our morning paper, twice, but the article is not there.
it is online though, but you have to have the link.
the front page has no information to get you there.

I think the article touched the core of the problem. Why was it disapointing for you Mulan? Other than it was not on the front page.
The article was good, it just wasn't in the paper. It was ONLY online.
It was printed on page 7 of a smaller community newspaper, The Everett Herald. I got that one.

Diamonds, Are They a Scam?
by Satanus inwatching the history channel on all the effort, expense and equipment that goes into mining them, cutting and polishing them, the above question occured to me.
so, except for industrial uses, what is it about them?
i mean, as far as looking at them, glass worth less than a nickel can look the same.

I think it is. De Beers has the monopoly, so they can set the prices. They are not in short supply so there is really no good reason for them to be so expensive.
I wear a fake diamond, (wedding ring) set in platinum, and people oooo and ahhh over it all the time. I don't care so I tell them it is fake. No way I would spend that kind of money for a rock.
Diamonds have never held much interest for me anyway. Gold, yes, but that has real value.

Disappointing, but predictable. No one really is interested in Jehovah's witnesses, except them, and us.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES AND JADE JEWELRY
by HappyDad ini had to listen to jw craziness starting in 1960 when my mother started studying.
recently, i was reading paul and pat blizard's website and came across "101 strange beliefs and practices of jehovah's witnesses".
granted.......some of these beliefs have gone by the wayside because of bud light.... i mean new light!

This is news to me. I have a lot of jade jewelry and always have had. I was a JW since I was four years old............1950, so it must be someone's weird private viewpoint..........not so private evidently.

I saw that, but I wonder where it will show in the actual newspaper. They call it a headline, so we will see.
