is it getting any better? or is it still happening at the same rate? was listening to o'reilly tonight as i was eating dinner and heard him say that virtual child porn is actually legal, that sort of blew my mind a bit.

Pulling the rug out from under the "apostates"
by konceptual99 inwould anyone agree that recent comments and changes to wt doctrine are designed to try and pull the rug out from under long established counter reasoning put forward by those the wt would consider apostates?.
the section in the recent wt, whilst not an apology, is apologist in it's tone and suggests that the wt society has just been doing the right thing by setting expectations.. apostate: "you keep saying the end is coming and it still hasn't.".
wt - "well, our zeal in following jesus may have prompted us to raise expectations too much but we are only doing what we are asked to do.".

jgnat: that was a big one for me, learning that what you said is true. they are reactionary not visionary. realizing that they are reacting to xyz in the background and then presenting it as if they had some kind of supernatural information that they are using to pre-empt any given circumstance. i think this organization is headed for a "great depression"....they are all going to sign up on jwn haha. like i said, i even feel bad for them in a way....i say that because "nobody" has the clear cut answers, if there were clear cut answers somewhere, then i would not feel this way. seeing that nobody does have the clear cut answers, it's hard not to empathize to some extent with these guys. unlike some on this board, it is hard for me to believe they actually set out with some sort of ulterior motive to become a powerful publishing company, maybe i'm wrong though.

Do you think those at the top realise that it's their fault - suicide as a result of being disfellowshipped?
by jambon1 ini have been stunned to hear of two suicides in our area recently.. this adds to the other 3 that i have known of from the past.. the two recent suicides resulted from 1-the person being gay & hearing a horrific talk at the kingdom hall & 2-the person with problems who was disfelloshipped & then took his life the next week.. it astonished me that jw's in general don't rebel against this sort of thing.
it's an appalling lack of support which leads people to feel distressed, abandoned & unloved.
how the witnesses in the locality can just sail on without giving the cruelty of these measures serious though is beyond me.

suicide = grave sin so....guess they are covered, at least in their minds

chichi: this is generally one reason why apostates are "angry", knowing that people are out there like yourself who have been brainwashed to believe they are the walking dead all because of what? all because a fallible organization claimed to be infallible. they also said "this generation will not pass away", well guess what, that generation is deader than disco, stiff as a board, all lying in coffins side by side. that is one of many lies that they have put in black and white print and cannot be "debated" away.

Should you pay the Obamacare penalty or buy health insurance in 2014?
by moshe ini am already reading that some plan to drop their medical insurance coverage on january 1st and just pay the penalty-.
an individual with $30,000 annual income would pay a $300 penalty in 2014, $600 in 2015 and $750 in 2016.. an individual with $50,000 annual income would pay a $500 penalty in 2014, $1,000 in 2015 and $1,250 in 2016.. an individual earning $100,000 a year would pay a $1,000 penalty in 2014, $2,000 in 2015 and $2,500 in 2016.. here is your insurance subsidy calculator-.

Intelligent powerful people have learned to use men's/women's own sin to control them and make them do whatever they want. perfect example was using the sin of racism to turn all those that would say what you're saying into racist morons, example of using men's sins against them to control them. "oh you are accusing us of what?" "ok let's see what skeletons/weaknesses/sins in you that we can get out here and those accusations will be dead and gone in no time"....reminds me of the line from Training Day, "you gotta have a little dirt on you for anyone to trust you"
i don't know a lot about the inner workings of politics, and really nobody does. . you know what politics means to rich powerful people? it means "we need this, how much money do you want?", money changes hands, and that is the end of that, very very simple. clean guy stands up, no dirt on him, bullet to the head.
only way to win is to break the bonds, and that won't be happening i doubt it. get rid of the horror movies, violent movies, all the porn, all of it, the video games , all of it....re-teach people to respect each other, to learn honor, to teach people how to be respectable and honorable, re establish trust....that is the only way to win....and i don't exactly see it happening anytime soon.

(he refers to himself as hillbilly so wasn't necessarily trying to bust on the guy) but it is good entertainment.

If it makes you feel any better mum, because of this jw religion, i ended up doing some bizarre stuff, and actually temporarily moved out to a rural area for a time where i basically had to eat a shit sandwhich on a daily basis. the people nearly assembled the pitch forks and came to have me lynched. my designer suits, flashy hair and educated speak were an annoyance, but once a few jealous folk got to starting rumors about me, telling people that i thought that i was better than everyone else and all this(and telling them that is how i talked in private), it was over. it was another nail in the coffin for my jw career as well because the folks who started the rumors were supposedly my brothers and sisters haha. little did i know, but now i do. so much for "i can go anywhere in the world because i am a jw"

Flawed Heroes
by jgnat inbeing the inquiring sort, i've read deeper in to the past of some of my heroes, and found....flaws.
it shakes me up.
i wonder; is my hero worth emulating?

the language used in the cited luke verse is very curious. as a side point i mean....it raises so so many questions in such a very short paragraph of words. they beheld satan already fallen? you mean he conquered jehovah at one point? you have to be standing to fall, and from the generally accepted stand point of a christian, satan would have fallen similarly to adam, the moment that he chose to go against god. if you heard someone say 500 years after adam ate the fruit, i beheld adam already fallen, would that make sense? they would say he had fallen the instant that he ate the fruit. jesus told them the kingdom was at hand....seems really none of them have a clue as to what is going on, and 2000 years later not much has changed in that regard i guess. because there definitely seems to be a lack of continuity, we generally look for continuity when we are trying to validate something. if someone is falsely accused of a crime, we look for the continuity of their story to ascertain truth. i guess the irony is that even leaders of the jws would use this type of investigative mechanism (when making decisions), but they won't apply it to the bible. i wonder if they would then admit to using worldly techniques for vetting information.

never really thought about that before, jesus did say that the kingdom would come before certain individuals near him at the time died didn't he? never thought of that, at least from the standpoint of him being flawed, that is interesting.....
