Does anyone know what JW's have against Girl Scouts? My mother would never buy girl scout cookies and I was always taught to feel that joining the girl or boy scouts would be wrong but never knew why.
My daughter wants to join and I want to know what I can expect to hear from my JW family.

Question about taxes
by Patriot ini have never written anything off.
even when i have been aware that certain things that i spend money on are for work.. but thats it!
this was the last year i do that.. i would like to know from those of you who know, around what percentage can i recover from a business expense of about $7000?.

Patriot,Just to add to Amazing's comments If you are not self-employed, employee business expenses can be deducted on Sch A. Expenses such as: education that is employment related, licenses, medical exams required by your employer, travel related to work,etc
These deductions are limited: you can claim the amount of expenses that is more than 2% of your Adjusted gross income.
Depreciation on computers and cell phones can be taken-you have to figure the percentage that you actually use them for work. -

That was me in the second grade! The Dorothy Hamill haircut - my mom thought the haircut was so cute so she decided she wanted to give me one. Now, my mom was no beautician so you can imagine. It was so horrible!! -

just for argument's sake, let's say that jesus did exist - was he murdered on a stake or on a cross?
this is puzzling me, because the only real research i've ever read on the subject was in wtbts publications, and since this is obviously a highly questionable source of documentation, i'd love it if someone here could point me to a scientific resource for finding out the truth about this...thx.... the earlier in the forenoon you take the sun bath, the greater will be the beneficial effect, because you get more of the ultra-violet rays, which are healing.

Is it possible that in this quotation, the WT failed to inform us of any pertinent information about Jesus death?
As I speak, I have in front of me the very dictionary quoted in "Reasoning from the Scriptures", that is, "The Imperial Bible Dictionary". It seems that within the ellipses or "….", the WT has indeed neglected to include some crucial information about the "stake" or "upright pole";"
AND HERE'S ANOTHER QUOTE FROM THE SAME ARTICLE
"You see, we can now clearly see that the authors from the WT's book "Reasoning from the Scriptures" have knowingly excluded crucial information essential for you and I to formulate a reasonable conclusion on the means by which Jesus was executed."
WHEN YOU COMPARE THE QUOTE IN THE REASONING BOOK WITH HOW THE IMPERIAL DICTIONARY ACTUALLY READ, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE IMPERIAL BIBLE DICTIONARY WAS COMPLETELY TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.

I researched this not too long ago myself. Here is a site that has some good info on the subject. It discusses the Society's Reasoning Book explanation of cross vs. stake. You can see how the Society takes their quotes from other sources completely out of context. Its pretty amazing. The society quotes the Imperial Bible Dictionary and the Liddel & Scott's greek to english lexicon.
The greek word xylon (or xulon) is also used in the Bible,for cross, and it is translated as "that which is made of wood". the definition says it could be a perch, a wooden spoon, a peg....but the Reasoning book conveniently leaves these words out of the definition -

in my opinion it would be pretty easy to print up a bunch of one-pagers from one of the websites that put all the info in a concise format, and distribute them at night during the "service meeting" in the kingdom hall parking lot.. what do ya guys/gals think?
