Is this site only for x-jws???
by silver252525 inhi guys!.
i would just like to know if this site is only for ex-jws or what?.
i have not been here long but from what i have seen i wanna think so:(

Hi Silver,
I am a baptized JW and I visit this forum and other exJW sites to research the religion I have been involved with all of my life.
My advice would be for you to keep researching-the WTBTS has alot of skeletons in the closet that they don't tell you about.
It is shocking. The Proclaimers book definitely does NOT tell you everything about JW history. It only tells you what the WTBTS feels you need to know--to maintain their pristine appearance. -

"Mists of Avalon"
by Mulan indid anyone watch this show on tnt this week?
it's another version of the arthur legend.
i finished watching it tonight.

Mulan,
I read the whole Mists of Avalon series years ago-the author is Marion Zimmer Bradley, so I had to see the movie. My opinion, the book was way better but Julianna Margulies did a great job as Morgaine. If you liked the movie then you have to read the book-look in the historical fiction section at your library.
Morgaine eventually becomes the lady of the lake but I won't tell you anymore. That happens in the book that followed Mists of Avalon - I can't remember the title. -

Apostate wretch!
by MoeJoJoJo inha!ha!

matt 5:22 is rendered as "but i say to you, that every one being angry with his brother, shall be amenable to the judges: and whoever shall say to his brother, fool!

Ha!Ha! Thought that subject would get your attention.
I came across a scripture that I thought I would share while doing some research in the Emphatic Diaglott.
Matt 5:22 is rendered as "But I say to you, That every one being angry with his brother, shall be amenable to the Judges: and whoever shall say to his brother, fool! will be subject to the High Council; bt whoever shall say, APOSTATE WRETCH! will be liable to the BURNING OF GEHENNA."
The NWT says despicable fool in place of apostate wretch.
I think this scripture may be useful in the future if anyone tries to smear my name by calling me apostate.Just thought I would share that with you.

6 YEARS AGO TODAY
by Amazing in31 years ago today i was baptized as a jw at the oakland, california "men of goodwill" district convention.
exactly 6 years ago today, i was forcibly disassociated (at least as far as the rumors go).
spiritually speaking the last 6 years, though only 1/5th of the total time, has been the most enriching and finest growth period of my life.. i owe much to many who have been there at each step of the process.

Congrats Amazing!!
I am really glad to see that most everyone who has left the org are truly happy-even happier than they have ever been; contrary to what the Society tells us about those that leave.

Help!
by MoeJoJoJo inthose of you who have helped family and friends out of the org, what line of reasoning worked well for you?
what scriptures did you use?.
any help you can give, i would appreciate.. "plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

Thanks mustang and es for the advice. I think what my problem has been is that I have been going from one topic to another with him. I think I will try to stick with one thing at a time and prove that undeniably incorrect as to the society's standpoint then move on to the next thing.
Yes Es. I would like that URL-I could use some more support. And thanks for the hug-here's one for you.<<<<>>>>"plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." -Veronica A. Shoffstall

Thanks for the comments.
I myself have not left the org totally-in spirit and heart I have. I still attend meetings. It would help if I had the support of my husband in leaving but he feels that it is God's organization.
I have tried to show him various things from the publications-failed prophecy, etc. He was surprised to see the year 1975 actually in print in the pubs since we had both been told that it was just some excited brothers that came up with that date, not the WTBTS.
The recent DC threw everything out the window though. What he said he learned from the drama stuck in my mind. He feels that "those taking the lead" in the past also made mistakes-Moses, and those who questioned Moses' authority (Korah) were destroyed. The drama also stressed that we should not be indecisive when Korah's relative who was indecisive was also destroyed (but I have seen no mention of him in the account in Numbers-? unless I'm missing it. I'm guessing that character was added to get a certain point across- -hmmm?)
Anyways, I was hoping to use something with him that he can not just excuse away. Something that worked well for some of you."plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." -Veronica A. Shoffstall

Secret Posters Hedging Their Bets?
by Englishman insince i found sites like this on the internet i have been constantly amazed at the great number of people who post here and yet do this in secret.. so many people seem to be trapped in a situation where they desperately want to leave the jw religion behind.
so many people seem to be unable to do so for fear of losing their families, fearing that a da'ing or df'ing decree will separate them from the people that they love.
some posters are even elders and ministerial servants.. so, can you guys tell me how you manage to lead a life that is so complex?

I just recently reached my conclusions about this religion, but I have had doubts for years. It was when I inhereted a vast WT library with many older pubs. That was when I starting learning the truth.
My husband does not have the same mindset as me though-he argues that the JW religion is the closest to the truth. In fact, we get into a fight every time the subject is brought up. So you can see how firmly he believes. He tells me maybe I shouldn't read those older books - that there's "new light" now and they were imperfect men and still are.
It's funny-I tell him that I think that God gave me those books and he says maybe it was the devil.
I also feel guilty because he does not know anything about me and the internet. If he asked me, I would have to tell him the truth, but for now the subject has not come up. I believe that he would have the elders talk to me if he knew I visited apostate sites and I'm not prepared for that yet. He is a MS and he would feel responsible for "keeping the organization clean".
He has already told me that if I left the org. that he was going to keep taking the kids.
What is a person to do?
We both have large JW families and its hard to think about losing them all. I can't wait for the Dateline program though, I am going to make him watch it with me. I'm sure a lively discussion will follow."plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." -Veronica A. Shoffstall

My family moved quite a bit when I was growing up I know of a definite four in different congregations. I don't know of any definite offenders in the congregation I'm in now, but I'm new there.
Always watch out for the ones who show alot of interest in your child. One brother in this congregation kept asking to take our son places, it just seemed unusual-he never invited the whole family. And he seemed to have a poor relationship with his own son. We did not allow our son to go with him. The brother has since moved to a different congregation."plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." -Veronica A. Shoffstall
