Sneak into a Kingdom Hall library... and err... this sounds like a secret agent job, but you could look at the bound volume and when no one looks, just quietly put it in your already open briefcase and just walk out... if you act confident, no one is likely to suspect anything.... ask a brother some Bible questions or something to distract him from the library trip you just made.... the awkward bit may be getting into the library, especially without anyone accompaning you.

Church mice joke is great!
Well, that wheel illustration - remember it in a magazine about the way the world uses us, makes us work so much we can't spend time with our families, etc., give we all we have to it, and that is unbalanced, etc. ......then I find myself asking, is the Watchtower any different to any other organisation is this regard? They work us hard!

servants meeting with CO...
by stillin inboring and irrelevant or what?!.
when i was appointed, i thought that i would share in building up the congregation.
the co is usually a company man making reports and passing.

To be honest, the first time I went to a 'servants meeting with the CO', I was expecting it to be something amazing, some incredible insight into not only scripture, but the amazing workings of the theocracy - it was far from that - it merely just confirmed my fears that the elders were not quite what I saw them as, but well, they didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing.
The answers the elders gave to his questions showed no real depth of understanding of scripture, and well, the outline was nothing I hadn't already seen in a Watchtower or heard at pioneer school - I sat there thinking "Why am I here just to hear what I already have heard at meetings?", but told myself it's important reminders. What bothered me is that it wasn't tailored to us, but the supposedly incredibly astute CO was obviously following an outline; didn't pay much attention to serious problems he was aware of - we'd had many in the congregation, including appointed men disassociate themselves because they were discouraged, but no one seemed concerned.
Afterwards, we servants walked out towards our cars, and one older servant - previously an elder - said he was very concerned because the CO wasn't strongly encouraging for more shepherding visists, and well, we all knew little was being done (our elders were more interested in their rather well-known squabbles over who would be the coordinator; we would brush this off because the apostles had their fights over who was the greatest). I asked to go on shepherding visits, but elders were too busy fighting. I didn't know what to say; I found it very strange and disconcerting how the elders were pushing people away, like little gangsters quick to find some reason to disfellowship anyone concerned by their behaviour, so what was I to say to this experienced brother - just muttered, "I don't understand it!" - I almost said, "I don't believe this anymore!" -

The US will probably quietly support an Iranian uprising.

Sky News emailed about UK charitable status
by cedars infollowing the recent breakthrough i have just sent the following email to sky news, expanding on the issue of the "mentally diseased" article to incorporate the issue of uk charitable status.
i feel this is a good angle to go at, because sky news tends to focus on uk economic policy issues quite extensively.
5 million per year in government gift aid being frittered away on a charity that condones breaking-up families and blocking medical treatment seems to me to be a newsworthy item.. here is the email.

Great email.
The Bible courses are viewed as charity as they help people with their lives; get them of drugs, etc., by dealing them the 'opium of the masses' instead. Also, they can refer to things such as disaster relief when their are storms, etc..

I must stop playing with the JWs on the independent
by nugget ini have become seriously addicted and think i may need help.
i keep posting comments on the independent article in response to silly jw comments.
i am surprised by the level of ignorance displayed on the simplest of doctrines and shocked by their passion.

Your comments will be viewed as "persecution", especially if sarcastic... you will end up drawing them closer to the organisation, rather than freeing them..... remember all the "common ground" stuff about preaching to worldly people; it works the other way around too... it's just psychology: question what someone believes (something important to them), well, they will feel insecure and defend it, but if you praise them for some things, then they won't be on the defence, and you can then make a subtle point, which they may consider, though unlikely to accepted it at that point... this is like sowing a seed in the old ministry

What would the WT do if anti shunning laws were passed?
by Aussie Oz inwhat would the wt do if say, a country or countries enacted a law that made shunnung illegal?.
punishable by time in prison or heavy fines?.
would they have the gall to 'obey god as ruler' rather than man, and actually continue the practice in defiance of the law even though they would incur the wrath of governments?

The local JWs are excited by this 'persecution', as it proves they have the truth.... oh, and no other religions get oppositon
The Governing Body would have to firmly oppose ending the policy of shunning those who leave...... think of the mass exodus Few Jehovah's Witnesses that I know are very serious about the faith; blatantly most young ones and many older ones are there just for their family -

I Just Knew This Was the Truth as Soon as I Heard It !
by bigmouth ini can't count the number of witnesses i've heard, or experiences i've read, who say this.. this is the basis on which they decide to join a high control religion ?.
do you make important decisions based on gut feeling or intuition or do you spend time researching a matter first ?
i've made some dumb decisions based on emotion and had to repent at my leisure.. actually, i was thinking about the mother with a missing child who just knows she's alive somewhere and is coming home.

Good illustration!
People also often base marriage etc. on gut feelings; this is a major commitment, in a way like joining a religion because it's a big part of life.

Jevovah's Witnesses and mental health
by bubba flavel indoes anyone know if the society has specific policies on the handling of members with mental health problems?.
my grandfather, a brother in good standing since moses developed paranoid schizophrenia in his later years.
he got to the stage where he would knock people over in the street, place his hand on thier head and cast out evil spirits in the name of jehovah.. he was disfellowshiped and not long after he passed away.. this was related to me by a friend years later as i was unaware due to the shunning, i didn't even know he died.

Preach the GOOD NEWS! The UK police force is considering action against the WBTS
Meanwhile, a local appointed man informs me it's just apostates stirring up trouble, and not to worry about it - we will be persecuted until the end.
If only he could take blinkers off (yes, I know it's not his fault) and see who is actually stirring up trouble - the persecution was prophecied to arise from speaking the truth; not from distributing needless insults based on falsehood. They are blatantly playing on people's stigma of the mentally-ill. Cheap, sick, and certainly not kind, or necessary. I wonder if the WBTS is doing this on purpose, as did Rutherford, so as to force the prophecied persecution to occur.
