JWDaughter: "With all the changes in that teaching in the last 40 years, I think it best not to say anything. I'm having a tough time keeping up with what they believe and teach on the subject, and I have not read all the upcoming articles yet."
Oh that's good! You never know, New Light could be just around the corner so we all need to be careful what we commit to as JWs. Let's wait and see what future articles tell us.
A new strategy to avoid their questions. Who wants to be the first to try it? It should at least make the elders grin.

EyesOpenHeartBrtoken: I think the big question you need to ask is if your husband's priority is staying an elder. If that is the case, I have seen many elder's wives join what has been coined "the sick wives club". They usually "contract" a nebulous, chronic issue (i.e. Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, panic disorders, anxiety, headaches, bad back). Your husband can stay an elder and you'll still get invited to social activities.
Now there's a clever angle - for those that can pull it off.

James what could they DF me for? They have no evidence. I committed no sins.
You don't have to commit a sin to be DF'd, you simply have to disagree with a Watchtower concept. The charge would be apostasy.
One of this boards most beloved posters, screen name Mouthy, was DF'd because she didn't accept the Society's teachings about 1914.
This post reveals that she is near death and her active JW daughter won't have anything to do with her even though Grace (Mouthy) committed no sin.

Some have been able to pull off a meeting with elders with no bad outcome and their fade was successful. Not everyone can do it though. If you decide to go through with meeting with them be very careful and I wish you the best. They really are very sneaky, and probably experienced at drawing information out of people.

I'm getting the feeling I should not meet with them but I want to know why.
Because elders can be sly buzzards. Their meeting with you could easily be the first step to a Judicial Hearing. They are good at asking loaded questions and could easily trap you into saying something you didn't intend.
As pointed out, you have already mentioned to your husband that you don't accept the blood policy, so it's going to be hard to reverse yourself on that. You will either have to lie through your teeth and say things you don't believe to satisfy them, or tell the truth and face consequences.
All of this is done in the name of love and helping someone spiritually. If you are marked or DF'd in the end they will tell themselves they have done the loving thing and you will suffer for it.
Best advice, as given above, is don't get started with them.

This is Watchtower trying to re-identify itself as a happy, smiling people as opposed to the negative, judgemental people they have gained the reputation of being, condemning everything in sight.
What happened to the concept of 'preaching the good news of the kingdom'? JWs are told to "advertise, advertise, advertise the King and his Kingdom." You can't do that by not saying anything to people.
JWs are looking more and more generic and churchy all the time.
