Seriously, don't wind him up. He has a very low threshold for criticism...
I sowwy.
ohiocowboy has just posted this information on the two other threads dealing with the sudden collapse of the unthank cases.. i don't know steven unthank, but i just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage against overwhelming odds to try and bring the watch tower society to justice over their deplorable neglect when it comes to protecting children from abuse and molestation.. steven is a man of justice and integrity who i deeply admire.
his actions will never be forgotten, and i only hope he can find it within himself to continue his work in whatever avenue may become available in the future.. they have won this battle, but they can never win the war.. .

avoid mentioning many details and how the organization based in new york meddled in politics in the far away land that caused so many problems and deaths for their followers..
Regarding the problems of JWs in Malawi the article only says,
1) They remained neutral regarding political affairs.
2) They came into conflict with the govt and were banned in 1967.
From there the article talks about building Kingdom Halls.
Absolutely no mention of what the issues were in those days, or that Watchtower decided JWs could not buy a political party card for a quarter.
Marvin Shilmer revealed that all Malawians were part of the country's sole political party by way of being born into it, and that buying the card was in reality nothing more than a tax. The card did not even need to be signed, nobody cared about that, all that was wanted was the 25 cents.
It was actually Watchtower that brought severe persecution on Malawian Witnesses by saying they could not pay the 25 cents, when in other countries simple work-arounds have been endodrsed by the Society to prevent persecution in neutrality matters. Mexico is one example.
'Nimble footwork' is right.

just a little experience i had a while back.
thought it was funny so here we go.
(there's also a couple of links you might want to use for your own reference).
Your mother was not at all concerned that the brother lied regarding the statistics in the talk? I guess it's not surprising, since JWs quickly point to the misleading teachings of other religious groups but ignore their own; which is the topic of this thread, ignoring the facts.
i know that there is no mention of any birthday celebrations in the bible besides the two which were celebrated by non-believers.
and it just so happened that on each of these events, someone died (one non-believer and one believer).
but does it mean that just because the bible mentions these two events, that all birthday celebrations are forbidden?
@ that quiet girl, who said,
"...even though I no longer feel that it's wrong, a small part of me still feels like I'll be struck by lightening at any second for acknowledging someone's birthday."
Don't worry about that Quiet girl. It sounds like you are fresh out of the organization, and it takes time to get comfortable being away. Many of the beliefs that have been engrained in us for years and years can't be dropped overnight. I think part of the problem is that we don't know how else to act.
I have abeen out of Watchtower for 7 years, and just this last summer I bought b'day gifts for the 2 kids that live next door whith whom I am very good friends (ages 5 and 9), and I felt a slight twinge of guilt even though it was perfectly ok to do so, and that was my first b'day involvement of any kind since about 1966. There is nothing wrong with continuing to avoid b'day celebrations for a while, or forever for that matter, if you feel like you need to.
You'll know when to start 'stepping out.' Best wishes to you in the future.

Unthank made a serious mistake with the picture (and the explanation he gave did not make any sense) - but we have to remember the above:
Specifically: That the Watchtower had to back down and make their elders comply with the WWC. That was a victory.
Those are my feelings exactly James. The photo and the caption were unfortunate because they were misleading (I can sort of see his explanation althought it's weak), but the fact that he apologised for it very quickly makes it a non-issue to me. However you look at the photo, it is small potatoes compared to the hard work he invested and the success he had at bringing Watchtower to court on criminal charges.
The fact that Watchtower was made to comply with the WWC Act, when they initially said the law didn't apply to them, is a BIG win.
Again, I have the highest respect for Steven Unthank and Barbara Anderson, and Cedars' post is greatly appreciated.

i think those are fair questions..... .
Yes Azazel, I understood that. I was saying that the case numbers from your site matched the numbers I got by searching a different site.
Thanks again.

@Azazel, who said
"Here is a link to a pdf of printout from the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court i printed on the 19/12/2011"
Thank you for that link. The case numbers are the same as the ones I had noted from the site that some believe is fake. (http://www.magistratescourtvic.ozehosting.com.au)
have you heard this skit, about the family that decided to stay home from meeting.
instead of attending the t.m.s.
and book study, they stayed at home to watch the tv.
And there was a shooting in the 1960s in the KH where I attended a few years later. No one killed, but a slight injury.
More tragic was the stabbing death of a Brooklyn Bethelite who was working at night in his assigned job...in the 1970s as I recall.
Of course in these instances it's always 'Satan's attacks' or some such thing, but never 'Don't you wish you hadn't been there so this wouldn't have happened?'
well i am as shocked/disapointed as many here about the unthank cases out come.
he always said that the opp had the right to do exactly what it did.. the cases are/were real.
check the magistrates court records.

"[the real site] lists no cases in any name beyond todays date, I would surmize thats because it is a list of hearing to happen, not have happened?
I believe you have it right...upcoming cases are listed, but past ones, even if just one day past, are not. This is the same result as on the 'fake site' which appears to be real after all.
