I wanted to thank everyone who answered my question. I hadn't heard some of the beliefs before.

Why does the great crowd go to memorial?
by *jeremiah* in"do this in remembrance of me"...... ...those words jesus utters,..according to the wt,...is specifically for "the annointed",...right?.
if jesus at the last supper is speaking directly to "the annointed class",...that they should parttake and "do this in remembrance",...then why do the r & f even go to the memorial?.
looking at it through jw eyes,...jesus didn't invite members of "great crowd" to the last supper,...right?

Blondie, thanks for the info. I think that's what the old sister meant. She was hard to understand so I never quite got her point. Our hall didn't have books that far back so I couldn't check on it. My best to all. Happy Easter. (Or whatever your holiday is coming up.)

Choosing life: Thanks for the material. It will give me some good information to check on. I had heard that the great crowd was also in heaven and a third group lived on earth forever. The Mormon thing I also had heard. I'll check some other translations.
When I was a book study conductor in the early 1980's, we had a very old (near 100) sister who was the fleshly sister of Brother DiCecca (sp?). I believe he was one of the Atlanta eight. (Or he almost went to jail, she had a picture of 8 men together in her house.) She's dead now, but she said there used to be a teaching about a second group in heaven, not the 144,000, who weren't quite holy enough to be of the 144,000, but also lived in heaven. I think there was then a group that lived on earth, but I don't know where they came from. You know how often they change stories. And she wasn't exactly real sharp with her memory at that point.
Thanks again for your help.

Many of you know me. I'm no WT defender whatsoever. But I have a question. Someone asked me who the "other sheep, not of this fold ......." were if the WT didn't have it right with the literal 144,000. I know there are verses about inheriting the earth, and other ones. What is an alternative to the WT fiction about the great crowd on earth for eternity and the 144,000 in heaven for eternity?
One person told me the Jews were the small flock and the Gentiles who became Christians were the other sheep or great crowd. Can anyone share your beliefs or whatever you've heard that fits these verses? I need an answer when my old JW friends (?) question my leaving the WT and ask about this issue. I don't know how to explain.
Many thanks and my best to all.

BREAKING NEWS: 16:.02: FOSTER MOTHER GUILTY OF ABUSE
by fokyc inhttp://www.gloucestershireecho.co.uk/displaynode.jsp?nodeid=139760&command=displaycontent&sourcenode=139586&contentpk=16917608&folderpk=80785&pnodeid=139317.
date : 20.03.07. foster mother eunice spry has been found guilty of subjecting children in her care to two decades of horrific abuse.. the 62-year-old, from tewkesbury, beat them, fed them rat droppings, stopped them sleeping and rubbed their faces with sandpaper.
she thrust sticks down their throats when they misbehaved and made them eat dog food.. one daughter was forced to use a wheelchair for four years even though she was perfectly able to walk.. doctors, teachers and neighbours raised constant concerns about spry's treatment of the children but nothing was ever done by social services.. the catalogue of abuse only came to light when one of the children went to the jehovah's witness elders at the church the family attended.. spry, from tewkesbury, was found guilty of 26 charges of cruelty after a three week trial at bristol crown court.

Obviously, I don't have all the facts. But it seems that either way, the WT will burn for this, at least in public opinion.
If the elders were doing their job, and were psychologically competent, they should have been visiting the family at least often enough to notice SOMETHING wrong with the situation. After all, they continue to claim that they can solve ANY problem, even those that require educated professionals, which we know they are NOT.
If the situation slipped through the cracks, then the elders were NOT doing their job. There might be excuses provided from both sides how something like this could go unnoticed, but in my book, it is a blow to the elders' constant claims that they are such qualified "counselors" and that no JW should need "worldly" assistance.
We can all cry for the victims, and many no doubt have, but at least this incident will provide much bad PR for the WT. Along with the child abuse cases, family murders, and suicides, this can only harm them further. And I'm sure we will see more of this type of nonsense in the near future. I pity all the victims.

His "Christian right"? What god damn "right"??? JW's HAVE no rights. What a lying crock of shit. Terry mentioned the Nazis. Let's do the same thing to the GB. Take them and hang them in the middle of Times Square. F*ing liars. How can you swine look any other human being in the eye? You disgust me.
I've read this transcript before. It's a shame that the lawyers always have to pin down the GB witness for a correct answer. What ever happened to "let your light shine to the world"? These monsters suck. I'm sorry the terrorists didn't miss the Twin Towers and hit Bethel instead. AND NO, I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU GOD, OR THE WT, OR SATAN. NO ONE! GOT IT?? WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT??? BEAT ME UP??

an ex-jehovahs witnesses planted a seed of doubt by stating that she felt to be a good .
witness an individual had to be a conformist.

To Outaservice:
Excellent comment about placing old books. Since many things in ANY of the older books have changed, how could the contents of those books be "new light" or "proper food" as you said? Any householder reading a 20 year old book as his/her first WT publication would not get the proper view, would they?
Bethel: You still are just a book publishing empire whose topic is just always "Religion". Oh, and you are a CULT.

For the kids is it better to stay married and miserable or...?
by brunnhilde in...get a divorce and at least have a chance at happiness?
my husband and i would never have gotten married if we weren't both in the borg.
now we're both out and we have nothing in common.

I do watch him often, but don't always agree. Many of my college projects for psych were analyzing TV therapists, etc.

Not to play Dr. Phil here, but I learned in my studies that USUALLY, a child would rather "be from a broken home" than "live in a broken home". Meaning if the marriage is over or is hurting the kids, it's time to divorce. If a child or children can live with one happier parent than with two miserable ones who are still together, the child will do better with one parent.

It's odd, but I also got a terrible headache and almost got sick when I read this and I couldn't finish it. I sent the link to a friend and the same thing happened to her. I guess we all have similar consciences.
Good to see you Anitar. Still have the headache.
