Everything is a family, in the sense that all things are related. In orthodox Christian theology, even God is a relationship since God is three persons in an eternal relationship with each other.

The Nature of God
by sabastious ini know that judaism and christianity are strongly self professed monotheistic religions.
yet, i wonder how they can so definitively say this when the word they chose to use as the deity in the beginning of their holy scripture is a plural.
genesis 1:1, and all of genesis chapter 1, uses the word "elohim" which is the plural form of "eloah" which is the prolonged form of "el.

Intellectually, I am an atheist but something within me calls me to faith. It may be my own desire for tradition and community. All I can say is that it serves me well.
Such tension in your state, BOTR! Great things should be written about it. Indeed great things have been about this state you inhabit... this sentimiento trajico de la vida.

How important is evidence to your world view?
by snare&racket inhow important is evidence to your world view?.
if you had to make a decision on a fact being true, what would be the deciding factor for you... your feelings and faith, scriptural statement or evidence presented by modern science?.
would scripture trump evidence, or would faith trump scripture etc .

It's cool. Maybe I was being too touchy. I was just trying to talk about something we all accept almost on faith. The Free Will thread got my thoughts running in that direction. And yes, neuroscience is a fascinating and challenging subject.

Natural gas produces 1/4 the carbon emissions of coal, and 1/2 that of petroleum fuels. We'll start seeing the transition over the next 5 years, starting with truck fleets. Eventually we'll have something better, but I suspect it won't be that soon.

Once those women are educated, along with the Muslim society in general, they will demand and want the same luxuries we take for granted. This puts a huge strain on what is already a taxed world.
Nah. If anything, it will reduce the strains. Upper income countries, for example, do a far better job protecting the environment these days than poor countries. Population growth rates have also stabilized. Really, many of these countries have negative growth rates if not for immigration.

It sounds terrible, but the implications of every single human being moving up to at least the middle class is disastrous and untenable.
I disagree. I expect eventually the vast majority will live what we currently consider to be a middle class economic level. Of course, by then, it probably won't be considered to be middle class any longer, since the economic "middle class" is a relative designation, not an absolute one. And I think it won't even be disastrous or untenable.

My penis smacking a female's ass cheeks is my favorite 2AM wakeup call and it has never gotten me arrested. At least not by cops. As for death by double dees, there are plenty of worse ways to die.

Are We Living At The End Of An Age?
by metatron ini hardly know what else to call it.
i have felt many emotions in my life and anxiety, many times but this is different.. it's a sense of the impending, a build up of pressure like a wall of water behind a cracking dam.
when does it break?.

Are We Living At The End Of An Age?
It is the ridiculous conceit of every generation that it is somehow the last before something BIG happens.

Unna - A German woman is accused of using her breasts as deadly weapons - literally, as her boyfriend says she admits to trying to suffocate him during sex. “I couldn't breathe any more, I must have turned blue. I couldn't tear myself free and I thought I was going to die.” Tim Schmidt told a German court, concerning an incident in May with his girlfriend Franziska Hansen, according to the Daily Mirror. Schmidt, who weighs about 190 pounds, says he and his girlfriend were having sex when the 33-year-old woman allegedly tried to suffocate him to death using her - assets. The 123-pound Franziska Hansen, who boasts a 38 double-D bra size, is charged with 'attempted murder with a deadly weapon.' Tim Schmidt, a lawyer claims that his girlfriend of four years was on top of him when the alleged crime took place. "She was sitting on me naked and I was kissing her breasts. Suddenly she grabbed my head and pushed me between her breasts with all of her force." Tim Schmidt claims. The German lawyer says with his last bit of strength he was able to free himself and run for help; naked and desperate Schmidt finally reached the home of a neighbor and asked the man to call the police
