"Pst! You CAN go to an international convention even if you're poor, but don't tell everyone!"
by cedars inthe 2014/2015 international conventions have been announced, and will be held in the following cities.... melbourne, australia october 2014london, england august 2014quito, ecuador january 2015frankfurt, germany july 2014athens, greece june 2014seoul, korea september 2014mexico city, mexico november 2014harare, zimbabwe august 2014as always there is a long list of requirements for those wealthy enough to attend - including the requirement to keep your "exemplary status" right up to the day of departure or lose all your money.. there is also a curious paragraph that seems to indicate an element of subterfuge.... special rooming: confidentially, we will be asking the host branch office to poll local brothers to determine if some might be able to provide limited rooming provisions in private homes.
this information is not to be made known to the applicants in general.
however, if the elders are aware of a longtime, faithful servant, perhaps with many years of full-time service, who is not able to fully finance such a trip, he could be encouraged to apply and the secretary can check the box on the electronic jw.org application that this delegate qualifies for the special rooming provision, if available.. basically, watchtower is admitting that it is possible to attend an international convention even if you can't afford the hotel, but they don't want everyone to know because they want as many full-paying delegates as possible.. my article on this can be found on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/watchtower-announces-new-international-conventions-while-downsizing-district-conventions-for-2014.

"Hoger education" is not enough. Recruting from the brethren is not always an option. You need a damn dirty good one to defend these cases, the one that lies, makes things up....as good lawyers do. Not the elder-lawyer-attorney, brother el dombo, that does it pro deo.

@stefaneLaliberte.
Thanks for your quote. I never said cigars don't have a risk for your health. I was talking about being addictive or not. Inhaling cigarette smoke with all its added chemicals and of course its nicotine, is de facto addictive.
Long-filler cigars, Cubans, Dominicans, etc, are practicaly organic, they don't have added chemicals that cigarette manufacturers do put in their stuff. That and the fact you don't inhale the smoke of a good cigar (and I am not talking about the few dollar rubbish cigar they sell at the petrol stations) makes it not addictive.
And therefor, which was my point, it would be interesting see a committee handling a judicial case where someone would be involved in smoking cigars.
If that committee of window-cleaners would use the risk for health as an argument, then what about drinking whiskey, cognac, rum, eating sugar, sweets for your kids, full of chemicals?
the other argument the society uses is that the smoke is harmful to others. That is a non argument. Then don't drive a car, use a horse or a bike. Don't use air-planes. Etc etc...

Bethelites Vow Of Poverty
by pale.emperor informer governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.

Watson. Here is one of my experiences
by moley ina little backstory.
please comment, is the just childish imagination or something unexplainable.. when i was nine we lived in modbury, it’s a small town, in devon the southwest of britain.
we lived in a very hold house, several hundred years old and down the way was 2 battle sites of the english civil war (one a minor battle won by the royalist and a larger battle won by the parliamentarians which ultimately lifted the siege of plymouth).

Nobody in special full-time service I know has ever been asked to hand any money to the society. I knew a Bethelite and the netherlands branch that had three houses. Another one even had is window cleaning business.
My then wife and I used our yearly monthly vacation to work. Never even were asked about, and we signed the same vow. We were explained that it was just a tax thing. I never understood and still don't.
