Well, yes I see lust is there. According to the scriptures its seems to be the most serious sin of all and the most prolific.

Beg pardon, I managed somehow to submit a blank post.
Of the 7 deadly sins I noticed it didnt include Fornication
Suicide__ taking of life
Blasphemy
Lying, cheating, stealing and a number of bad things I would have expected to see.
I was just curious as to which sins are the most serious and unpardonable. Just trying to learn here.

What is meant by cardinal sins? What sins are they, specifically, and what are the consequences? Who decides and what are the alternatives?

Official position on Salvation
by tiotuerto ini became interested in jws about a year ago due to the favorable and believable answers to several questions that i had.
however there were a couple of others that were never clearly answered and i have since discovered a noticable reluctance on the part of wt elders to discuss.
perhaps there is someone out there that can set me straight on the official position of the organization on this particular point.. question: is it officially true that to have a chance at eternal life here on paradise earth one must be a (1) baptized and (2) official member of a congregation of the jehova's witnesses and that no others outside the jws can hope to attain salvation.. this seems to be the predominate assumption in most of the teachings i have so far encountered.

In stating "worship and study in groups' I as thinking more on the lines of congregations rather than private groups. The point being that, to each of us its"my personal salvation I'm concerned with" since we cannot actually experience any one elses or any other groups personal concerns.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I always though the whole issue of salvation was a personal one, between our creator and ourself as individuals. Worship and study in groups is one thing but to subscribe allegence to a man-created group for our personal salvation seems a little risky, in the light of what we have accomplished so far a sentient race. We have the natural inclination for corruption and excellent spiritual leadership in that regard and we think a likewise man-created organization will get us out of this mess? I hardly think so!Any more than I believe the U.N. will bring world peace one day. Grow a brain (JWs)

I became interested in JWs about a year ago due to the favorable and believable answers to several questions that I had. Question: Is it officially true that to have a chance at eternal life here on paradise earth one must be a (1) baptized and (2) official member of a congregation of the Jehova's Witnesses and that no others outside the JWs can hope to attain salvation.
This seems to be the predominate assumption in most of the teachings I have so far encountered. Appreciate any feedback from either side of the issue.

Hello, Confusedstudent. Take heart, my experience with JWs parallels yours to a great degree and I am also considering breaking away. I have to admit that I did learn some valid truths studying with them however I have been stumbled by remaining questions which they cant or wont answer or try to pass off an unsatisfactory answer. Since joining this forum, I am amazed at the number and intensity of disillusioned Bible students. However my experience diverges from yours in this respect; Rather than seek to continue teaching me their doctrine they have seemingly shunned me and have made it apparent that they find me unacceptable to the congregation. (beard, lifestyle etc.) Regardless of all that I have ,over the last couple of years, with the direct intervention of God, been able to shed some serious lifelong issues, among these smoking. I do not accredit these changes to JWs but they have kept me focused on massive self improvement and have helped me to accept the truth about life and death and consequences. I, too, will miss some very good friends. Take heart and keep posting.
