  Which meeting was the worst?

  i absolutely detested the watchtower study.

  never did an hour go by so slow.

  there would the 20 or so paragraphs that had to read and answered, and i would watch the clock.

  Theocratic Ministry School/Service Meeting I always hated it, I was always honest about hating it and they told me it was because I didn't prepare.

  Watchtower Study. I could handle it if I didn't study before hand. But there is no way in hell I could study it and then sit through an hour of them disecting 5-10min of reading material... all of which I had heard before. It use to really bug me when they would take like 10 comments on one paragraph. I would think how many ways can you rephrase 5 or 6 sentences. I would get up go to the restroom play with the babies that were in there, get a drink of water. I would doodle. My husband would say your not setting a good example for the kids.

  I found this web-site 587-607BCE or something like that I was actually doing research for a talk and I wanted to use information other than WT articles, I was being Studious for once. That was like the straw that broke the camels back. Looking back other things always bothered me but I just kept pushing my gut feelings aside, telling myself it was satan tryng to tempt me. I studied for like 5 years before I got baptised. It was hard for me to conform. I was raised to be an independent women and as you are well aware that is not a good JW wife (independent). I tried to be a "good wife for around 3-4 years after I got baptised, then well the old me kept creeping back in I got back in the work force into the real world and slowly got my life and the real me back. I was in for a total of 11 years baptised. You know what guys I like the real me so much better, I'm much happier.

  come on forum brothers and sisters this site goes round and around in circles, there's only so many times you can talk about "your worst meeting" "kingdom melodies i hate that i can replace rude words too" "bill bowen is worse/better than ray" " the circa 1949 wt says...." "i'm outta the borg(tm)" "your favourite witness?.....i hated them all" and my favourite..."hello newbie, you're amongst friends here, we look forward to your posts", but don't you dare, ever ever step out of line and not tow the ex line here, after all we're the enlightened ones now and we'll trash you without any understanding/concern"........this site has become a cult in itself, agreement at the kh is called brainwashing, agreement here is applauded, unless you disagree (no dissention in the ranks allowed) and on and on...........quit the judgement of others you say you struggled hard to escape from and hated, we're all humans looking at the end of the day for answers.

  I agree with Amazing. There are new people here everyday. I read w/o posting for 3-4 months before I posted. I learned a lot here or was at least directed to places where there was good information. I don't come here as often as I did at first, in fact I was reading daily sometimes 3-4 times daily every chance I got when I was first leaving the borg. I come here about 1 a week now. It was so encouraging to realize that there were others struggling with the same things, to know your not alone. I do think there are people here who need to get a life and move on...let go of some of their anger. But I think that this site is so important for helping to save people and get them out of the WT. That is mostly what I come here for now. I hope I can help others that are struggling or questioning the WT teachings.

  Amazing, I just wanted to tell you that your story was a great encouragement to me when I was leaving. I printed it out and gave some sections to my husband to read. You should rerun them occasionaly for new ones to read. I wish I had the talent to write and/or that my story of leaving was as interesting as yours. If it was I would post it so that maybe by some chance it could save even one person. I'm just so glad to be FREE.

  i don't know if anyone here listens to dr. joy but i love her show and most of the time agree with her advice.

  well, today i grew some balls and decided to call in and ask her what she thought i should do in my current situation (which is probably the closest i will come to seeking professional advice).

  i never mentioned the name of the "religious group" in which my husband was involved, but i informed her about some of the things that they believe and how it was affecting my marriage and family.

  You have to let your kids lead a "normal" life. That is the one thing that breaks my heart is when they say we are so glad to be normal now. (17&14) we have just recently left in the last year. They are starting to make new friends (wordly ones because the witnesses aren't allowed to associate with them anymore) this is particulary hard for my daughter, she had a very close girlfriend they were like sisters since 18 months old and now her parents won't let her be with my daughter. I'm sure there will be scars. I just wish I would have woke up years ago!

I live in a rural area on one of the main roads so they will see my house. I think I might want to put up a Christmas Tree, my kids have never had Christmas (17 & 14) they are excited about the whole thing. We are going to my sisters for Christmas in LasVegas. I really don't need a tree but I thought it would just get us in the spirit of things (I grew up with Xmas I was not a witness) I was wondering do you think if they saw the tree through the window they would DF us.

  it's semi-official, my wife is serious about leaving the witnesses.

  things are moving so fast and i had to repost the following.

  She could just conveniently be gone around the study time. She could then have a headache on meeting days/evenings and just sort of be busy and slowly fade away. That is what my family did. There are some who don't talk to us, we've even had the elders come by a couple of times, my husband and I raised a few questions to them that we had and pretty much stated we don't believe in the Org. They still have not dfd us, I keep waiting but I hear nothing. My kids have been told by some of the X-friends that they are not allowed to talk with them because we are apostates, now one would think if we were considered apostates they would disfellowship us.

  that is, to find disfellowshipped people who need support or advice?

  if you've been to meetings since being disfellowshipped, i take it you'll know that they all sit at the back and leave straight away so they are easy to spot.

  i continued to attend for several months after being disfellowshipped and met up with several disfellowshipped persons, although i had to attend several times as they didn't appear to make all the meetings (they must be spiritually weak or something lol).

  I don't think I could stomach it. And I'm sure I would open my big mouth and say something(I'm not disfellowshipped) that I shouldn't, after all the do encourage inciting one another to love and fine works! It's better if I stay away.

  and yes this post is a joke,,, but the content is not,,, i know i am not perfect, but come on!!!!!!

  usually ,i look over at the profile and i can let it slide if the person is from sweden or something and english is a second language.

  I'm a very good speller. I didn't realize I was being graded. Usually I just type what I want and don't really proof read because I'm sure whatever I typed is close enough and you get the point. I'm sorry if it bothers you. I will try to be more careful......well mybe il bee mor crful!@

  i have to say i admire everyone who was strong enough to leave the wt organization.

  alone these horrible stories about armageddon must scare the hell out of everyone who was brought up with it or who was in the org for several years.

  hell even to me they sound really frightning and i don't believe in this nonsense.. secondly you loose most of all of your friends!.

  I think once you realize it is not the truth, it is harder to stay in then leave. I was only in because I believed it to be the right thing in God's eyes, once I realized that was not the case, I had to get out. Ray Fran says in the opening of his book something about standing for something as you look back over your life. I don't want to look back over my life and think or have my kids think I didn't stand for what I believed in or did not believe in.

  Shunning Rules Changed Again

  sometime ago the faq at jw-media stated that if one "simply ceases to be involved, they are not shunned.

  " ... now, the wording has changed to allow a broader position, one that could include even many more former jws, and "maybe" become the basis whereby they could argue that they are not apostate: do you shun former members?

  those who simply leave the faith are not shunned.

  I printed out a copy of the web page that says those that simply cease to be involved with the faith will not be shunned. In case they come by and ask me where I stand. That is exactly what I plan to say.
