Driveslike Jehu,
I saw on another post that your're in college. What's your major and where are you going to school? (I can't write on the singles thread. My wife would kill me. On a day to day basis, I'm more concerned about her wrath than God's.)
i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

heresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.
TW,
Your husband is more than a mere elder. He is a modern day prophet. I have the priveledge of being the first choosen of 12 that will share the last Thanksgiving with him at some very distant, future date. Since it will be our last one, we are going to violate the rules and really gorge our selves.
After much thought, I have concluded that dry wine is OK, but we draw the line there. No Sherrys or Ports, too many calories.
if this topic has been addressed already...sorry...just ignore it.... if not...i would like to hear from those who would defend this policy....or who see the inconsistencies in the views on blood but the wtbts.. .
the following is something i read on at another site.
there is no question that the watchtower's blood policy needlessly kills jw children.
By the way, if you are concerned about the amount of blood in red meat, the best meat to buy is Kosher meat. Jewish butchers make a significant effort to get as much blood as possible out of the meat.

Logical,
The thing about fat was a joke, which you woul find out if you bothered to read the other thread. Why don't you take a look, just to give yourself a little light heartedness.
Regarding the old laws, Collosians 2:16-23 has the following to say:
So don't let anyone critize you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating Jewish hoidays and feasts or new moon ceremonies or Sabbath. For these were only temporary rules that ended when Christ came. They were only shadows of the real thing - of Christ himself. Don't let anyone declare you lost when you refuse to worship angels, as they say you must. They have seen a vision, they say, and know you should. These proud men (though they may claim to be humble) have a very clever imagination. But they are not connected to Christ, the Head, for we are joined together by his strong sinews and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God. Since you died as it where with Christ and this has set you free from following the world's ideas of how to be saved - by doing good and obeying various rules - why do you keep right on following them anyway, still bound by such rules as not eating, tasting or even touching certiain foods? Such rules are mere human teachings, for food was made to be eaten and used up. These rules may seem good, for rules of this kind require strong devotion and are humiliating and hard on the body, but they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thoughts and desires. They only make him proud.

Logical,
Please review my list of covenant laws from the Old Testement that I presented earlier. Why is it that JW's do not follow these? Why pick one out of many laws and ignore the rest. Logical, don't you find their decision on the subject of law to be illogical?? I don't know of any scripture that says that you can pick a law or two that you like and ignore the rest. Either you reject them all because we are no longer under that arrangement or you accept them all. It seems very binary to me.
By the way, if you read the thread called Heresy of the Month, you will find that eating fat is definetly a no no.
there is a thread already started on the subject of the fds elsewhere but i thought we may as well deal with aspect.. do we need a fds?.
what would we miss if we didn't have one?.
what additional new light do we need?.
MDS,
I forgot to ask. What is specificly going to happen in 2001, or at the end of this very important 70 year period in 2002?
i am new to this.. i have a problem.
someone on my ministry asked me about the date that we hold so dear....607 bce and asked me to prove it to them.
this would not be a problem i thought as the f&ds would have solid basis for using such a date.
typo in the last post, should be 20 years, not 29

Scholar,
Prisca asked for non-JW sources. I would add the requirement that the references be from primary sources, that is historians and scientist, not secondary sources, that is, peopple that quote them, perhaps incorrectly or out of context. Ray Franz was asked by the Society athis very same thing and he was shocked to find that the evidence was not there. It all pointed to the fact that the JW's were off by 29 years.

Nyank,
MDS also believes that the time period from 1931 to 2001 is very important. He also talks about a seven year period, but doesn't provide and specific information. He also teaches that Jehovah will trample down the JW's very soon for a period of 42 months, then they will be glad to take the cure. Following that they will administer the Abrahamic Covenant to billions. MDS also believes that his role is found in Isaiah 49: 1-6. Be sure to read it.

Whatever happened to the good old fashioned laws of: Keeping the Sabath, no pork, Levirate marriage, polygamy, the sacrifice of animals, tything, first born sons getting twice the inheritance of the other kids, slavery, and no cutting off of beards. AH, the good old days!
