Hi TeeJay,
You asked me a question in the thread started by Farkel

Ladonna,
Question: for whom should empathy be shown? Judgement at Nuremburg deals with a painfully horrible period in Germany's (the world's) history and its aftermath. Considering that time, should the nazis been shown empathy? The Jews? The Gypsies?
In any given point in time, to whom should we show empathy?

TJ, I have posted this answer on a different thread as I do not feel comfortable that my Quote from the movie "Judgment at Nuremburg" may be misconstrued in any way and by any persons to mean I was referring to Farkel as being a Jew or a Nazi.
I merely used a quotation and stated where I had heard it. The relevance of the subject matter in regards to the subject matter of the movie to Farkel is NIL
Being half Russian Jew myself I have great empathy for the Jews. On the otherhand I do have empathy with the Germans of today that have to live with what was done by generations that preceeded them.
I do not deem myself to be a judge or jury. I hated what happened to the Jews, and to this day find it distressing to see footage from the holocaust.
But furthermore, I fail to see where you are linking a mere quote I made to Farkel.....please correct me if I am wrong and this is not what you are inferring. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.
But TeeJay, isn't empathy a natural human emotion? I do not for one minute accept that you never feel empathy. You have shown that by your thread to Emmyrose.
Maybe, we need to show empathy whenever we can. As has been pointed out......we never can fully know what is going on in others' lives.
But in Farkel's thread he stated what he was suffering. Was that not enough??
Kind Regards,
Ana
To any that are wondering.............................................
I state here that I do not under any circumstances wish to be part of a Nazi thread. This is not what this is intended for.
I will defend, to your death, my right to my opinion.
