I go way back in the cult and I remember the WT saying that they didn't baptize new borns the way the Catholic and other churches do...I can't recall them ever saying that it was wrong to baptize children...Of course the perfect example is Jesus being baptized at 30, but when you bring this up they will say that he was allready dedicated at birth as an Israelite and his baptism as a mature adult had a different meaning...

The Watchtower is very careful in their use of "electronic" means of communications and I doubt that any details regarding cases of pedophilia would have been stored electronically or communicated by e-mail or even over the phone...Elders are cautioned about even using cellphones when communicating with the legal department of the WT. In order to acquire that list, someone inside would have to physically take the list or make a copy of the 23,000 names. So what can Anonymous really do? Shut down the WT site or infiltrate the field service reporting system? This would do very little to bring the cases of pedophilia to light...and in the real world who really cares about the WT except for its members or ex-members?

The youngest child baptized I am aware of was 6 years old...her mom and dad were missionaries in Africa and when the girl was born they moved back to Canada. They remained special pioneers and eventually the husband became a subtitue CO for a while then they moved to California where he studied to become a lawyer for the WT...I haven't heard from them after that move.

Latest WT: "Refusing to appear before a JC is like refusing medical treatment"

this could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about the doctor.".
sounds like they're now trying to stigmatize those who try to avoid judical action.

JWs advocate freedom to refuse treatment when it comes to blood transfusion even when the doctors bring the matter to the courts. Likewise they should respect the individual's right to refuse to participate in their internal "judicial" process...But JWs don't like to treat others like they demand to be treated!

I was doing research on the latest statistics on earthquakes for a public talk but I couldn't find anything that would support the WT's claim of an increase since 1914...one thing leading to another I found out about 607 BCE not being supported by history, the WT's membership in the UN as an NGO and the frequent misquotes of secular sources almost everytime (...) are used in the middle of a quote in the WT publications...

Could Assemblies Be Wrecked?
by metatron inassemblies at the reading pa. assembly hall are getting disrupted repeatedly by somebody who keeps pulling fire alarms.
many witlesses blame it on "apostates" - rather than the dissolute teenagers who used to do such things in my day.. there are lots of things that so-called 'apostates' may do to disrupt assemblies including bomb threats phoned in, swat teams called, printed green insults stuffed into collection boxes etc.
add prohibitions against strollers and you have lots of reasons not to attend and thereby avoid the annoyances.

At a DC a few years back an old man sitting at ice level in front of the platform had a heart attack. Quickly a few people came to his aid and had to give the man CPR until EMS arrived and took him out on a stretcher...the speaker didn't miss a beat and several attendants circled the scene to block the view of those around...At the next CA one speaker mentioned that the old man survived and was doing well thanks to Jehovah...I guess there was no reason to disrupt the meeting after all.....

when i heard about these things i called my p.o or c.o.t.b.e ( mind you i'm disfellowshipped when i called ) .

My mom came for a visit for the first time since I stopped going to the meetings 2 years ago. She thinks I no longer go to the KHall because I am depressed and grieving the death of several close friends in a relatively short time. I told her I was depressed for a short time after my dad died, but that I was fine now. She said I should have consulted a doctor and that there is nothing wrong taking medication for depression! Typical JW reasoning to explain why someone would leave the "truth" - mental ilness...I couldn't bring myself to tell her that since I stopped going to the meetings I have never been happier, that I now have a life.

WT Q&A Study Method
by leaving_quietly infor years, i've never understood why we read a paragraph, ask a question, and then recite what we just read in the paragraph, and at the wt study, it's an hour long period of severe boredom because, well, how many times can we recite the same stuff over and over?
even new ones who come in have been baffled at this method of teaching.
i have a theory, though.. however, i just read the "what is sacred service?

The CO that visited the congregation just before I left made a comment that sounded alarm bells: "If a false statement is repeated often enough, in time people end up believing it is the truth" ...I asked myself where do I hear the same thing over and over again? Where do I accept everything said as the truth without question? Yes at the KHall! Toward the end I could pretty much predict what the speaker would say next, what scripture he would use, what the scripture said and how it would be applied....that what 50 years of repetition does to you...but not once did I question the truthfulness of what I was hearing....

Several years ago someone I called on in service told me he wanted to study the bible with me but without WT publications...I then realized that I couldn't and that in fact I always had been studying the WT doctrines contained in their books and magazines...I was helpless without the formulated answers provided by the WTS found in the "reasoning" book...on the other hand this man used only the scriptures to show me what he believed in...I never returned to visit him as he had well predicted because I was affraid to be confronted by an "apostate"...Today I realize that reading the bible without the "help" of the WT publications there is no governing body in Jerusalem, no organization, no restrictions on the medical use of blood, that Jesus asked his true followers to take care of the material needs (not just spiritual) of the less fortunate...None of this is taugh by the JWs and this make them a cult, followers of men rather than followers of Christ.
