if god has instructions for sincere people why can't he just tell us what they are in plain language?.

he could do that and some people would fall in line and others wouldn't.. if i was god, that's what i would do.. as a parent, that's what i do with my kids.. i am so tired of all the guesswork..

To LifeIsGood...

Rather than say why I believe in 'God', I will say this:

I believe that someone created humans and life and this planet and this universe...
So, if that someone is 'God' then that's who I believe in.

I believe that the Creator is present and I see evidence of that everywhere I look.

What the big plan is or all the ins and outs of it are things I am trying to explore right now.

I feel that the Creator loves humans and regardless of the ups and downs in my life,
I know that there is definitely someone there that knows me, understands me and cares.

Hopefully, that somewhat answers your question.

I believe that we were created. And I believe that God is our creator. Whether 'Jehovah' is the proper pronunciation of His name or not.

So just to get this straight, in the Watchtower magazine itself (the one that the public and the general congregation reads), we are told that any known pedophiles are NOT allowed to serve in a position of authority in the congregation.

But then...

In the letters to the elders, the real story is that pedophiles can serve in positions of authority (elders, ms, pioneer etc). And the only stipulation is a report has to be made to the society?

Did I get that right?

Now my head is REALLY spinning....

The Loving Disfellowshipping Arrangement

my youngest sister is the only person in my jw family who has had any real contact with my husband and i and our baby.

for the first year she cut us off too but then after a while she seemed to realize how horrible it was and she opened up to us.. well, she is very easily influenced by the family and so she cut us off again.

she tried to feed me the line about it being for our own good blah, blah, blah.. here is an excerpt from how i replied:.

It was my sister who just cut me off... she was in hysterics and couldn't breathe. She was sobbing and incoherent. She had some guy at her place that she met in therapy... he tried to assure me he could calm her down and I almost ate him for a very early breakfast...

Anyway, he finally brought here here. She was sitting on the couch and twisting up and writhing around... My guess is a mixed manic episode...

Anyway, they were here til 6 am or so. I got her calmed down and then when she was leaving she wanted to hug me... but she wouldn't let me go. I wanted her to stop and I didn't know what to do... then she started hugging and kissing my husband and baby... She was telling us how much she loves us and doesn't know how to live without us...

This is just so bizarre...

Oh ya, and I should mention.. I felt nothing.

To Mad Sweeney... I didn't mean 'I want THIS religion' when I said 'I don't want another religion.' What I meant is that if I am done with THIS religion, that's it for me in terms of religion.

Here is what I know right now - and it's not much...

- I believe in a higher power that I hope I can call 'God'

- Someone or something has shown a vested interest in me throughout my life, although I'm not sure why

- I have a strong urge to listen to what my inner person is telling me to do - I have ignored her for far too long

- The idea of allowing 'love' to govern all I do from here on in, is very appealing to me

That's all I have to say for now (after pouring over everyone's comments to all of my threads from yesterday).
