Sounds like they will be sending the older, weaker, unhealthy ones to Canada. This is where they can give free health care to those burned out servants, and reward them for their years of service.

Shunning..... at Meetings ???
by IMHO incan someone explain why jws shun disfellowshipped ones when they are at their meetings (i.e.
making moves to come back)?.
i can understand why you may not want to 'socialize' with ones who do not share your beliefs.. but surely shunning such ones at the 'meetings'; assuming they are not there to cause trouble, is unloving; should they not be welcomed like the prodigal son.. true christians are known by the 'love' they show.

Yes, Viola...when such power is given to the wrong people, it can sure be abused. There is something on page 118 that says that two Elders will meet with the DF one, to acknowledge receipt of the request.

I knew a PO, who wait awhile ...say 6 months before looking at a Reinstatement letter. I didn't know where he got his information, but thought that he was very cruel.
This statement in the new Shepherding book to "Deal promptly with a reinstatement letter" seems to be an improvement.

Hi Sir 82,
I was looking at the new procedures in the "Shepherd the flock of God Book" It states on page 118, That written requests for Reinstatement should be responded to promptly. So this attendance at the meeting for 6 months first is not a step....but, I do believe that it was a procedure for some in the past. Not sure where it came from. Paragraph 3 on page 119 states that the commitee " should allow sufficient time, perhaps many months, a year, or longer" to prove that the profession for repentance is genuine.
I have seen some reinstatements last 6 months...it depends on some factors.

Yes, that 90 hrs were rough. I have seen many who waited patiently for a mate and were glad that they waited. You have to even be patient outside in the world as well. I work with single women who are finding relationships difficult. Some have children from diferent fathers. Their is nothing wrong in waiting for Mr. Right.
As for this topic. Singleness, is not too encouraging for many. We need companionship. Someone to shop with, to go to coffee with, to play scrabble with, to help with the dinners, and work after. I have seen to many single minded old men....they are weird in my books, and too set in their ways.
