Yes, Entirely Possible, but getting hammered is not rooted in Pagon beliefs....it's honoring Noah.

Yes, I do fear that the ORG can spin this one, just like they did in 1914. I just hope that the news conveys a good message of how
underhanded the ORG is with their policies.

I must admit that I do enjoy seeing those coloured lights around that dark time of year on trees, and houses. But, the exchanging of gifts on Dec 25th?
I can see the time of year for family to get together, but hunting for Easter eggs? Is this really fun?

Yes, Sir82, I agree with your post about Infirm Regular/Special Pioneers. They are to serve at least 15+ years of service, and should be infirm.
However, some have appealled to the Service department and received that classification for caring after aged parents. It's a label kind of thing that makes someone feel good over their pioneer rank. On the other hand it is kind of a joke, considering. What about the Publisher who can't put in the pioneer hrs? We are told that it's based on circumstances that one can pioneer. The fact that those pioneers can't go back to a publisher status is a slap in the face of a publisher. It's classic example of how Titles are allowed in a insidious way.

Wording of "mentally diseased" press release - feedback?
by cedars inas some of you may know, i am working with trailerfitter and cantleave in helping amelia with her efforts to complain about the latest "apostates are mentally diseased" article.
she has an appointment with local police tomorrow afternoon, as she has lodged a complaint under the 'hate crimes' act.
it has been suggested that this issue may merit some media coverage, and with this in mind i have prepared a draft press release.

I like the statement, and the comments made by the Posters....I wonder if this could be a Human Rights issue, though

Shunning Family Members is Unloving and Unscriptural Bullscheiße!
by TimothyT inhow much the organisation loves to quote from the letters to timothy!
however, how often do you see the following scripture being used to encourage ones to provide for a disfellowshipped family member?.
certainly if anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.

Actually the Society has provided very little detail, but it still is there in their publications about assisting family members.
In the Elders manual, if the father holds a position...he'll lose it.

Some JW's don't really open themselves to others. They are constantly reminded that what ever they do, they are representing their God, Jehovah.
So this puts pressure on them because they feel like they are being judged. It's great to know a witness of Jehovah when they are genuine, and they let down their guards. They could be very frendly, funny, and the best companion you ever knew.

Child Abuse Registry Checks in Canada for Elders?
by headisspinning ini have been following steven unthank's case in australia and it got me to wondering about the laws in canada.
so, i sent a letter to the canadian centre for child protection to find out if religious leaders in canada are required to undergo any type of criminal child abuse registry check.
i am a caretaker for a building and my husband and i had to have these checks done, so it makes sense the 'elders' would have to as well.

The only law or rule that Canada has on this, is the reporting to the Society when it is found out. The Regulations changed sometime in the 80's that made it necessary to file a report to the Children's Aid Society.
Normally when you are working with Children in Canada a CPIC check is necessary to have done. This also applies if you are voluntering in Nursing Homes and where you will be caring for people.
The Elders do not have to be checked in this way. But, I heard that known Pedophiles must be accompanied by someone while out in service.
Not too sure about that one. Maybe someone has some direction on this
