I do remember, but can't seem to find it, a Watchtower comment that stated. " Relatives must decide on the Emotiional needs of the DF'd relatives to see what limited contact would be necessary"
Does anyone remember this?

i've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.
Thanks for finding the ref. Sayswho.
I do remember a CO commenting that no disfellowshipping would occur for celebration of birthdays.
Interestingly, the ref. in the WT says you could, and then it says there is no good reason to celebrate Birthdays.
They must have found a good reason ....can't wait to see wait that new light is?
just out of idle curiosity i typed ''obey the governing body'' into the only cdubrom i could get my paws on, 2009 and found this piece of 'mind cleansing' from wt54 9/1 pg 538. impatience leading to presumption.
13 in recognizing the theocratic organization one must not fail to obey the advice: wait for jehovah, and keep his way.
wait for jehovah: be strong, and let thy heart take courage; yea, wait thou for jehovah.
At a inaugural meeting David Splane said that not all members of the GB agree totally. But, in the spirit of love they cooperate. Obey is a strong word for some. but, could be used in relative sense. i.e. Obey Secular Authorities

Actually it does state in the Elders manual that you would DF someone who celebrated a birthday.

Yes, Birthdays will become a conscience thing, but it is not to interfere with Family Worship night.
It is not to have candles buring in a cake for that is really Pagon.
It cannot encourage the singing of the Happy Birthday song, since that originated with Pipe Smokin Bing Crosby, who was a known drunk.
as if the other sept. 15th wt thread i started weren't controlling enough - in another study article titled " run ..... that you may attain it " were you aware that just eating and wearing clothes on your body - might be a " stumbling block " to you ?
in a prior article on pg.
12 , paragraph 6 the wt society sets up what they are trying to get across by stating, " people of the world tend to seek personal interests first as " men of this system of things, whose share is this life.
I know, it's hard to swallow this stuff. It's coming from ones that don't have a clue on providing financially for a family.
It's a shame to see how they end up. I have seen many at Bethel retire as janitors in the real world after they couldn't hack it anymore.
It's hard to find happiness through these pages, anymore. The magazines did inspire me a long time ago. But, we have lost our happiness.
Hey, I just remembered what Rebel8 posted. I also agree with her.
i've gone from being indifferent to becoming an full fledge non believer in anything much.
i guess i'm now a "no-hova" witness.
there's nothing about the wt or the bible for that matter that holds any importance in my life or death.
I've heard of the No-Hova's beleif. It's membership is growing.
Aren't they the ones that demand to wear hats on their Driver's Licence Pictures?
i know it was discussed in a previous post, but can't remember where.
