Help: Ancient history sources for my JW friend - recommendations?
by InterestedOne ini was thinking about the first bible discussions i had with my jw friend where she got into old testament scriptures, etc.
it just dawned on me that she might have left an open door.
at one point, she said, "i would love to do a secular study of these topics.

Do you find JW's have a way of getting in your head & you can't shake it?
by InterestedOne ini have a jw acquaintance whom i do odd jobs for because we supposedly became friends a few years ago.
we became acquainted before i knew about her worldview.
when i do odd jobs for her, sometimes in passing she will make not-overtly-religious-but-still-jw-type comments that make my skin crawl, but i don't respond.

the burden of proof

i think it is worth understanding and keeping in mind when groups such as jehovah's witnesses make extraordinary claims.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaybys8gajy&feature=g-vrec.

Posting recorded conversations or transcripts on the internet
by InterestedOne ingiven the weird dynamic of conversations with jw's, sometimes you only get the effect of it if you hear a recording of it.
i was wondering if it's illegal to post recorded conversations with them on the internet without their permission.
what about posting a typed-out transcript as long as the speakers are not identified?

Announcing who is "sick?"
by InterestedOne ini have a newbie question: i've noticed the elder announces the name of someone who is in the hospital, then he announces a bunch of names of other people who are "sick.
" is this one of those jw-isms where a word can have two meanings: physically sick or "spiritually" sick?
is this a way that elders announce the names of people who might be involved in "sins?

TMS Logistical Question: Does everyone have to do a skit at some point?
by InterestedOne inbeing a non-jw, i have a logistical question about the tms.
does everyone enrolled have to do one of those play-acting demo skits where someone plays the hh and the other plays the jw?
or, can some enrollees choose never to do them?

Any Recommendations for Ex Born Again Evangelical Discussion Boards Similar to JWN?
by InterestedOne ini'm realizing that just as jwn is helpful for those with a jw background, i would like to find a discussion board for people with a born again evangelical background.
since there can be overlap between jw's and other bible-oriented religions, i figured i'd ask for recommendations.
from a google search, i see one called www.ex-christian.net.
