Announcing who is "sick?"

I have a newbie question: I've noticed the elder announces the name of someone who is in the hospital, then he announces a bunch of names of other people who are "sick." Is this one of those JW-isms where a word can have two meanings: physically sick or "spiritually" sick? Is this a way that elders announce the names of people who might be involved in "sins?" Can someone enlighten me on this?

No, they would not say so so is spiritually sick. They can only announce public reproof or disfellowshipping of "spiritually sick" individuals. Thats it.

    He means physically sick.

And I am slightly amazed that this happens, as it's not that common for them to announce that someone is sick, unless it was a sudden or pronounced sickness (like cancer, or an admission to hospital).

Not that there's anything wrong with doing so, it's more the list of names they read out - that's unusual though kind.
