JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

Ok, let’s engage on this. What do you feel is a good example of the thinking on this site that is toxic? An example that is worthy of an entry into the DSM one day?
Begin by reading what I actually wrote and not taking it out of context to suit your interpretation would be a good starting point for a discussion.
Hmm... ok? So here is your entire paragraph, in context. Its the entire thing.
Anyways, fast forward perhaps 5 years since my last visit to "e-watchman". And now ... WOW! The site REEKS of the most absurd conspiracy theories bought straight from Infowars, QAnon and other such sources. It's a cesspool of right wing hatred intertwined with ludicrous and lunatic prophetic interpretations "a la carte" from the biblical prophets and Revelation, and (low and behold) even criticism and denunciation of the Watchtower is taking somewhat of a secondary role on the website. Just, wow! I'm sure this kind of pathological path has got to some day have some entry into the DSM manual of mental illnesses.
You are lamenting the descent of "e-watchman" into a realm of "absurd conspiracy theories". It is a "cesspool of right wing hatred" and "lunatic prophetic interpretations". OK, fair enough. I have absolutely no idea what is on e-watchman. Never been there. It could be everything you say and more. You go on the say that you are "sure" the path of e-watchman "has got to some day have some entry into the DSM".
And then you say this:
What I fear, is that such a valuable resource such as this forum, may be going, slowly but surely, into the same slippery slope territory.
OK, so you "fear" that this site may be going down a similar path, of everything listed above. So I asked for an example of something on *this* site (see quote above) that is the basis for this fear. I honestly don't see how I took you out of context. Seems like a reasonable question. If you say, "This site is starting down the path of this other insane site" and someone asks "Oh, yeah? Why do you think that?", then I don't see the problem.

Why I care about people who see racism everywhere
by StephaneLaliberte intoday, i was watching a tv show and a black celebrity in quebec said that his latest incident of racial profiling was being asked questions by the police as he was walking in a quiet neighborhood at 2am while wearing a hoody.
then the other guest next to him validated his claim saying that she, as a white women, was never stopped like this by the police.
i became very frustrated and agitated.

Mustard, I would be suing the pants of the place. I know there are a lot of court suits being settled out of the press or fake news. People who don't have their heads up their ass need to sue every time the left gets stupid and they are being stupid a lot as of late.
Well, if he has a suit, maybe he’ll give it a shot - who knows. Given the fact pattern here, my guess is that they would settle it pretty fast.
But I pasted that video because snare&racket posted something that underscores some of the left/right divide. Notice that in the video, pretty much everything the woman claimed was false. But even after all the details became known, and everyone knew it was hoax hate, she was still defended based on her “lived experience”. The subjective experiences, and subjective interpretation of those experiences override the facts. To me that seems very destructive. I honestly don’t understand the viewpoint. It makes more sense that it is a ploy for a power grab.

In other news no one gives a shit about them.
We might be more interested if we had a royal beheading or two - like the good old days when a wayward prince/princess/queen was suddenly found guilty of “high treason”.

Maybe accept that they have experienced a different life to you and see the world differently.
Everyone experiences a different life. And I’m sure that someone that sees racism everywhere does, in fact, see the world differently. I just think they are objectively wrong for subjectively assigning racist intent to just about everything.

*sigh*
Why does it matter if the training is mandatory or not? Why is there training *at all* that advocates for explicit racism?
This isn’t a “conspiracy”. It’s part of Critical Race Theory. Utter cancer.
Woke Person 1: “What should we call our brand of racism?”
Woke Person 2: “How about anti-racism?”
Woke Person 1: “No, no, I think you misunderstand, we are definitely racist so we can’t say that we are....... ohhhhh. Yes, gotcha.”

The posts tend to appear to ask a genuine harmless question, then the post is a pro right wing, with heavy left, millennial, snowflake bashing.
I don't think that is how it went down. The posts Simon take down follow the same pattern:
1) Talking about a known debunked left-wing lie. For example, the "all-fine-people hoax". Those threads usually went like this:
Poster 1 : Trump is a racist
Poster 2: Why do you say that? Can you list a few reasons?
Poster 1: Well, did you see he called Nazi's fine people?
Poster 2,3,4,5: That's not accurate.
Poster 1: Why can't you people see he's an authoritarian nazi lover?!
Annnnd deleted...
Poster 1: Why was my post deleted? Look at this link from CNN, it proves it.
Annnnnddd deleted...
2) Categorizing others as "in a cult" because they disagree with political views. Those threads usually went like this:
Poster 1: Trump is a racist.
Poster 2: Can you list a few reasons why you would say that?
Poster 1: Isn't it obvious!! Every day he gives us more and more reasons!
Poster 2: Uhhh, like what?
Poster 1: Oh come on! You are all in a cult. I can't believe that you would leave one cult and join another. You would think that you would have learned your lesson.
Annnnnd deleted....
We've had political threads with no deleted posts. Simon said he doesn't want to hear that type of stuff, and so if people stayed clear of those pitfalls, nothing was deleted. The same type of stuff occurred with Michael Brown, Tray Von, and Roy Moore.
Forgive me if you disagree..... I post this in a hope we can change the course of this site between us all.
OK, what would you have Simon do? Or do you feel like the "right" wingers should be more "left" wing? Are you saying that, in order to help more JWS, conservatives should move to the left?
