and from the jw perspective, he didnt know which means it took him by suprise or which makes it seem god is not as almighty as we would believe.

And why would God be selective about applying his ability of forknowledge.
In order to be selective, you first have to know.
The WT gives an illustration of a guy watching a recorded game. He could know the ending, he just doesn't fast-forward to the end for a peek. The issue here is that we aren't talking about some cosmic VCR, separate from God - we are talking about God himself. God is the cosmic VCR.
He would have to know everything before selecting not to know everything.

my grandfather who has been dead for 37 years would not recognise the borganisation today.
he would turn in his grave if he knew the end didn’t come by 2023.. back in the 1970s he really believed in the 75 thing.
he was so disappointed and almost blamed everyone else why the end didn’t come.
The WT won't go out with a bang. It will go out with a whimper, slowly declining and shrinking. Somewhere along the way there will be a "come to Jesus" moment (pun intended), and the entire 1914/607/adventist root will be discarded. At that point the WT will be a bland Christian sect, no different than your local Baptist church, with a somewhat (but not much) larger membership, scattered about. Heck, probably people will me members of JWs and the local church.
It will remain small, only gaining members among the truly religious.
Probably won't happen in my lifetime. Maybe my kids.

as a gen x'er, i would not want to go back to the per-internet world, but i would like to go back in some specific technologies.
I am GenX. I would not roll back the internet. People look at their phones because they choose to look. Some are addicted, yes. It's their responsibility to recognize the issue and do something about it.
For example, I'm a software dev. I'm involved with the internet all day long. But I purposefully do not have an account for Twitter, Instagram, Faceplant, Truth, Mastodon, etc. I made a conscious decision not to engage there.
In other words, each individual GenX that prefers a world without screens has the ability to make that happen for their own life, and should do so.
