I agree, they could ditch 1914, but that seems very unlikely. It's more probable that they would attempt to come up with some new interpretation of things.
I can say this, my PIMI father in law, when confronted, was fine devaluing 1914, putting it to the side, and falling back on "it's a good way to live", "there are a lot of well meaning people", "it's a great comminuty" type of argument.
If they were going to attempt a removal of 1914, they would have to do it over a long period of time. De-emphasize it, start to make it a minor point, so that it wouldn't be such a shock.
