Just stepping outside the boundaries of this forum for a sec. We have some sharp Bible scholars here because they were once Jehovah's Witnesses. The things people things think about who haven't been exposed to Jehovah's Organization is much different. That's what I have observed.

It is strange to think about the fact that the story of the crucifixion of jesus was the first state assisted suicide (at least that we know of). Why do many christians oppose state assisted suicide today? Doesn't it make more sense that christians should support state assisted suicide, since it was the means by which their lord chose to kill himself? I am not saying that state assisted suicide is right or wrong (so do not put words in my mouth), but I would like to hear some of the wonderful rationalizations and excuses that you may have about this event. Actually, since jesus presumably have cancer (or any other terminal disease), you would think that christians would be against jesus' state assisted suicide. I do not think Dr. Korvorkian would have assisted jesus in his demise - I guess that is why he used human beings as his pawns in his "great" plan. -

I was born into the organization: 32 years old. If you're referring to Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowshiping unrepentant wrongdoers...short story:There was someone in the congregation I knew for quite sometime that slept with his best friend's wife. Shortly after, his best friends wife filed for divorce and they were both disfellowshipped shortly afterward. Not long after that they got married and started going back to the meetings to get reinstated. Right after they got reinstated they quit attending meetings. Their getting reinstated was so they could hang out with the family. The “brother” I'm telling you about had great parents and didn't deserve such a jerk for a son. There's nothing you can get disfellowshipped for that is conducive to family life. How is sleeping with your best friend's spouse not, “tearing families apart standards?” Most people I've seen get disfellowshipped leave behind a trail of destruction as they exit the organization (myself included but I'm reinstated now ). It's that person that tears families apart, not the organization.

There's numerous accounts in the Bible where Jehovah's prophets did make mistakes. Unless Jehovah transmits a direct explanation for every Bible matter it is not possible, to be infallible when seeking Bible truth.
More bullshit. Please provide one example when a prophet chosen by Jehovah interpreted a prophecy incorrectly.

Jehovah's dealt with people differently after Jesus established the Christian congregation. Mistakes of a trivial nature are simply overlooked. Opponents of Jehovah's Witnesses will take a trivial matter and exploit it for self-serving purposes without identifying any organization that measures up to a given standard.

Houston is a paradise for seculars
The big dog is the Houston Atheists, which boasts 858 members on its Meetup.com page. The Greater Houston Skeptic Society has 290 and the Humanists of Houston follows closely behind with 252. Besides these big three, Montgomery County has its own Humanist Association, and if you don't believe in God but still like the church culture, you can attend the Houston Church of Freethought. Furthermore, we also have a recently formed charitable organization, SECULAR Center USA, and several small conversation/study groups, such as the Humanist Contemplatives. The question is; is there a group of people that celebrate universal truth about God, not "does there have to be one.” That sounds like the reasoning of a person who wants to hide from the truth instead of seeki ng it.
