KNOCKING - DVD Release / What to Expect/ Scenes

the knocking dvd comes with a 48-page study/discussion guide.

it includes information about the making of the film, all the main characters, their early history, expansion, civil rights, their community structure, their preaching methods, and distribution of literature ( that adds up to their annual operation expense of over a billion dollars).. some dvd scenes include:.

people from stratton, ohio being interviewed along with the mayor.

When I went and watched this "documentary" last March, Joel's mother was in the audience. During the Q&A session at the end, one of the questions that was asked of Joel was, "What did your mother think of you making this film?" His answer was, and I am quoting him exactly, she said to him - "Just make sure you put us in a good light!"

Now I don't know how much pull his mother had in the making of this film, but once you view it, you will see that he stayed within the boundaries of her request. Plus, it is soooo obvious that the entire film was positive towards the jw's --- the bros from bethel wouldn't be making an appearance if it wasn't.

Just you wait and see. I guarantee that if Joel decides to make another documentary showing the other side of the jw's, bethel will not participate whatsoever. They would probably even ban his cameras from even entering the kh's.

someday I'll be 60

this past sunday took a great ride on my motorcycle with some 'brother's' who ride.

now all thru this ride when we would stop and take breaks and what not, every chance one of them got they would say how great it is for 'brother's' to get together and enjoy 'wholesome association'.

while admiring each other's bikes one made the comment how he was interested in a trike (3 wheel motorcycle.

i am conservative - but this approach of sneaking a ban in though another bill is wrong, imo.. jeff .

It's all about party polarization, especially when it comes time for elections. Just wait and see - you're gonna be watching TV one day and there will be a "mud-slinging" ad that comes on accusing the opposing party candidate of voting against food for starving children, or money spent on extra armor for the troops in Iraq. You'll think, "What a low down thing to do - voting against armor for our troops! How dare they!" But in reality, the same bill this senator voted against also contained a provision to allow clergy immunity from prosecution for molesting choir boys. It's stupid $hit like this that pits our Society against one another. In the previous example, a senator would appear anti-patriotic but at the same time seem very smart for not letting the clergy off the hook. Most of these bills put the lawmakers in a catch-22.

This is also why you need to thoroughly check out the tv and campaign ads that party candidates put out(if you put stock into them). If so and so voted against a bill that would have put extra armor on the backs of the troops, you need to see what else was included with that same bill. Chances are, there was something major included - something that stunk.

Awkward moment Tuesday night

on tuesday night, i took an elbow to the nose while playing volleyball.

a guy i play with is an er doctor and recommended i go to the er just to make sure everything was ok. turned out i had a "nasal fracture with contusion.

" anyways, while talking with the admissions lady, one of the questions she asked me was, "any religion or church you want me to put you down as affiliated with?

My wife didn't say anything about it. Not one word. I don't know how a jw could deal with such a thing happening to them. I mean, you're not supposed to "eat" blood, but here you are tilting your head back, squeezing your nose to try and stop the bleeding, but the blood is gushing down the back of your throat. I don't know how much blood I swallowed, but I finally stopped the bleeding after around 45 minutes. I was light headed and feeling sick to my stomach if that's any indication.

I can just picture a jw saying in private, "Oh God, please Jehovah, forgive me! forgive me! i couldn't help but swallow that blood. Please let me live through armageddon!! Ahhhhhh!"

My jw wife was sitting next to me and I immediately answered "None." She slightly looked over to me, but didn't make eye contact. I think her response was more of a, "Oh, that's right - you're not a jw anymore."

It was the first time in my life that I was able to say I wasn't a [jw]. That was weird to say the least.

Oh, and the nose is healing just fine.

Well hell, darth. If I had known you went riding this Sunday, you should have rang me up. The weekend was gorgeous - unlike now. I could fake being a jw for a few hours.

what do you folks think?

Jourles I couldn't disagree more on your veiws. Most countries have weapons to defend themselves, you don't see us going into them do you ??? What we are talking about is the expected use of NUKES!! And as mentioned before in this thread diplomacy hasn't worked, which is what Clinton tried with N. Korea.

Everyone can hee and haw over this entire issue until we're blue in the face, but it still doesn't change the fact that no one has used them on another country in over 60 years. NK and Iran will not use nukes against their neighbors or enemies simply due to the fact that THEY KNOW the USA will retaliate against them for doing so. It will be their countries which will be "wiped off the map." Come back to this thread in 5,10,15 years and let's see where we are at. If a nuke gets detonated in one of those countries, I'll eat my shorts and video tape it for everyone to enjoy. Until then, crazy or not, NK and Iran are only bluffing - taunting the US by flexing their muscle. I would be doing the same thing.

Again, what is with this double standard? How many nuclear "tests" has the USA done? Why didn't other countries impose sanctions against us for doing so? Oh, I keep forgetting. Our nukes are for "defense" purposes only. There's no way that these other countries would use theirs for defense too.

With Mr.Cowboy Diplomacy out there, I think I would arm myself if I was one of the other two countries.

This is exactly what is happening. For some reason, some americans think that it is ok for us to invade other countries under the guise of lies, but it is NOT ok for another country, who just happens to be on the USA's $hitlist, to defend themselves against such an invasion.

A huge double-standard exists here. The USA screams that we need to defend ourselves by fighting "over there." But as soon as another country postures by showing off its defenses, "we need to take them out."

Again, why is the USA the bully in the schoolyard?

It seems that war is the only solution to all of mankind's problems according to bush.

But what is the president to do when faced with these bad guys? Jump in a hole and pretend nothin' is wrong?

The real question is, What made these "bad guys" react like this in the first place? Did they just come out on their own to play out this drama, or did they feel threatened by something or someone?

A small analogy: You're out on a safari in Africa. You've been stalking this particular lion for a week, in his territory. The lion has no plans to leave his territory. You finally come across this lion. You sit there hidden in the bushes with your gun aimed at his head. He knows you're there and lets out a huge roar. You tremble a little bit but steady your weapon. He lets out another roar and walks around eyeing you. Your gun is still trained on his head. Remember, you're in his territory and he doesn't like it. What do you do? Shoot him or leave him be?

Substitute Bush for the hunter and Iran/NK for the lion. This is the present situation we are in today. What is the lion going to do if we leave him alone? What will likely happen to the lion if he wanders out of his territory into a city?
