i was thinking this scripture is used by the jws as well as others to say that the bible is the word of god.
however, as the bible is a construct several hundred years after the death of christ each writer was unaware of the bible as a whole.
How does the Bible lead to the truth about God?
I would say it is similar to a movie about a battle or historic event. There might be plenty of details that might contradict actual accounts, but the movie as a whole should convey the message and meaning of the event if done properly.

We often gloss over the meaning of the word in question: "Inspired"
If Dr. Phil inspires me to start my own series of self-help books what would that mean? Would my words necessarily be Dr. Phil's or would my words be truths as I have found them to be based on his principles.
Taking the bible literally is A) dumb and B) impossible as it is almost certain it has been changed and the cannon is different depending on who you ask.
However it is a great book and does share the great story of Christ, the apostles, and ancient Israel. It can lead one to the truth about God and like any other piece of literature uses "figures of speech" which I feel many take literally.
Imagine 5000 years from now: In 2012 I wrote that, "I was fired from my job". Could you imagine another culture and language translating that to mean I was consumed with fire at my place of employment for poor performance and people extrapulating from that meaning? I can.

Oh I am so sorry. You are trying to say you have doubts about the Conti case. I am sorry. I mistook you for a manic person with possible tendencies to disassociate posting random words on the forum.
So your point is you have doubts about the "Conti Case". Well personally, I do not know too much about it other than she is involved in some litigation regarding her abuse claims. If you have something you want to share like doubts about her story then here is what you do:
1. Take a few deep breaths and clear your mind (not too much or demons might enter).
2. Write down all of your major points about your topic. Make clear and coherent statements followed by supporting facts. For Example:
Topic: Cagefighter likes Apples
A. Apples are affordable. Most people can easily purchase a single apple for less than 25 cents.
B. Apples are nutrious. They are packed with fiber and vitamins.
C. Apples are delicious. They come in a variety of flavors, from tart to very sweet.
3. Take your major points and summarize them in a paragraph and post after appropiately titling your topic in the origin post.
4. Sit back and stay calm. If no one comments on your thread it is ok. Some people just don't have anything to ad, it does not mean they do not like your or are disagreeing.

i was only 10 yrs old, so nobody told me why.
but isnt it ususual for the sunflower name not to be carried over but two new ones to be made.
LisaRose- I don't think it was that the NoCal congo was conservative as much as it was par for the rest of the country. Cali Jw's were not regarded as real JWs when I heard people speaking frankly. We figured Jah would knock yall out fist at armageddon by just letting the whole state fall into the ocean.

what would everyone recomend as far as what bible translation to read instead of the jw new world translation?.
I get the most out of The Living Translation paraphrased. It is one of my most valued possessions. It reads like a book and is written to convey meaning not a literal word by word translation. Much is lost in those literal translations.

I grew up in the South and the Cali JW's were always spoken of as suspect. Wife-swapping, Apostasty, KH's that used something other than the WT at Sunday meetings. When we asked about Michael Jackson we were reminded about the Cali brothers. Consquently anyone that moved to California was regarded as suspect as well. I had a good friend and neighbor as kid that moved out there. Never heard from them again.
We pretty much regarded them as break-aways.
