Well, that depends how big the cats are. Historically Christians have not got on too well with lions and tigers, with the exception of Daniel in the lions den. My advice to Christians, is to run from all cats.
Ah... very wise ; )
Peace,

is it appropriate for a christian to own a cat, in light of their past pagan religious affiliation and the medical information that is now coming to light?
it would be misleading to answer this question with either a simple yes or a no.
the scriptural answer of necessity must be a qualified one, and it is easy to see why.

so last night i had a family meeting and told my kids that i was quitting as a jw and then gave my wife my da letter to give to the one elder i like at the hall tonight.
so this morning i see a text from the co elder the one that met with me and is gunning to get me out and had already tried to get me to a jc meeting this week.
so the text reads "your wife has informed me of your letter and its sad to hear, would like to meet one last time not as a jc, to be sure this is what you want.".
I'm sorry, Crazyguy. This is what they teach their members right? To be loyal to the org first, and if that means turning on loved ones, that is what it means... though some think that they do this out of love to try and help, and if I remember your story right, your wife is not leaving you over the religion, but still loves you.
All that being said, remember the elders in Kate's JC, and how they pushed and pressured and browbeated her into giving something up on her daughter? This elder could have pulled something similar on your wife, and then made it sound as though she came to him, when who knows what really happened, or how he might have browbeaten a comment or affirmative out of her. Please keep that in mind.
Peace and strength to you,
tammy
i've been out the organisation for around 8 years.
when i first left, im positive that i suffered from some sort of post traumatic stress.
i was very angry at myself for accepting the really bad parts of the religion that i strongly disagreed with.
But where does that leave me? I've got a burning desire to read the bible again and when I do it sort of makes sense to me. But I could never be partof a religion again. Is there anyone else like this?
Then do it. You do not have to be part of religion to have faith in Christ and God. You might consider that just the opposite is true... because there is then nothing then standing between you and Christ (the ONLY mediator between man and God), telling you what you should or should not believe.
So go ahead and read the bible if you have a burning desire to do so, because that sounds like a burning desire to seek and know God. Pray also if you want, asking that your eyes and ears be opened while you are reading, so that you may see and hear and know the truth. Then listen and put your faith in God that He does hear you and will answer you, and that Christ - the one God says to listen TO - also keeps His promises:
"If anyone loves me, they will obey my teachings. My father will love them, and we will come and make our home with Him."
Peace and love to you, and may you be given ears to hear as you wish them.
Your servant in Christ,
tammy
peace to you!.

Can you please clarify for me... who killed the firstborns in Egypt? (by the way you accidentally said "peace, tammy" twice in your last post.)
Death. Not the scythe and hood guy... but the entity, yes. The last enemy.
(and yes, lol, I saw that... sometimes I go back and add or fix something, and then forget that it is already there)
Peace to you,

How do we know that anyone cried out to God?
Because God said,
"The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that i will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
There had to be decent people in Nazi Germany - the Resistance members come to mind. The Old Testament casts just about anyone who is not a YHWH worshipper as evil incarnate. What were the procedural processes that led God to condemn S & G?
First the outcry from those who were harmed/raped/killed/etc. Second the 'investigation' to see if the accusations were true and as bad as what they sounded. Third, the promise to spare the entire place an account of ten righteous men. Fourth, the escape for anyone righteous and their family (like Lot and his family, his righteousness shown in the way he protected and sheltered the two strangers from those who would do them harm), from the coming destruction. Fifth, a resurrection of the dead (some to life and some to judgment)... that has not yet happened.
Does a six month old have moral responsibility for the actions of an adult?
No, but the parent makes decisions for the child. Unfortunately to their detriment at times. Just as Adam made a poor decision to the detriment of his children, though God made it so that his children did not have to be consigned to death, but could return to the Garden and come to life. Same as God can give life to the children whose parents' decisions cost them their lives.
These stories aren't fleshed out.
I agree. There are always details that are missing. Because the written word is not living... but is more two dimensional. Which is why we have Christ... to show and teach us the Truth of God. To help us to SEE. I don't know every detail of what happened in the OT, and someone mentioned above that the conclusion is that the bible contradicts itself... well, of course it does. I have never said otherwise. But sometimes people use these OT stories to condemn God... but do not think for even a moment about WHY God acted, or WHAT/WHO God was protecting; and what lesson/example the account is revealing.
They are more Israel, YEAH! Others - died. If the account is correct, where is the evidence in the debris of that time period?
S&G came BEFORE Israel. Whether you take it literally or symbollically.
Again, you can not share what great truths or love notes Jesus shares with you.
Again, I have shared many things that Christ has shared with me.
I'm not sure why you think the truth is going to be different than was given to Paul or Peter or any of the other apostles?
Christ is the Truth. Listen to Him. COME... take the gift of the water of life... FREE.
Christ shows us God. Know Christ, know God.
I don't believe you have the creative writing skills.
You don't need creative writing skills to write as to the truth you are given.
(That being said... I do have those... creative writings skills. I do write, and am published. Been a few years, lol, but still...)
Rather, we are supposedly to be impressed with your assertion. Wow, that TEC ,truly has Jesus! It doesn't matter that her Jesus might completely negate the historical Jesus. Having Jesus talk to you absolves you from scriptural authority or any tradition by any faith group.
You continue to make this same assertion, and it is wrong every time you make it. Plus, every time you ask for a scriptural backing... or say that there is no backing... you have been provided WITH the scriptural backing. Because anything that I am given to share IS backed also by what is written. So that accusation holds no water.
Paul said to look to the fruits of the spirit. I don't notice how you are a beacon of this forum for all the voice hearing.
Well, I am not a becon on this forum for all the voice hearing. So... that might be why you don't notice it?
And regardless of what Paul said... God said to look to Christ.
How have we be enlightened? Baby teeth appeared on your forum. It is a fraud. Tammy does nothing to stand out with here. Inventing voices of Jesus is an attention grabber. People must flock to you from around the world.
Ah yes... I cannot keep up with all the flocking from around the world. *insert sarcasm emoticon* Come on, Band.
It is hard to find the "historical Jesus" under the teachings of the Church.
Well that should maybe tell you something... at the least that you should probably look at Christ... to know Him, and God. Not the church or men or scholars or historians, etc.
One would imagine that the historical Jesus would mention you by name and address as the place to go for genuine Christian teaching in the last days. Yet not one gospels, canonical or otherwise, points the way to you.
I don't think one would imagine such a thing at all.
The gospels and prophets, etc... all point to Christ. So do I point to Christ.
Immoral things are not immoral b/c you were not standing in the circumstances. How do you know God would not demand a sacrifice from you? What makes you so special?
I know because I know Christ... and for all the other reasons that I have already listed in this thread. You can look at what is already in them.
And yet again... I am NOT so special.
You and others need to move past that. Because it is that thinking... that one must be special or good or perfect... in order to hear Christ and serve Him, that keeps people from even trying; that keeps people with their backs bent under the load (of guilt and lies) that man and religion has placed upon Him. That the wts loaded on you.
But there is freedom in Christ. You don't have to be 'special or good or perfect' to hear and serve him. Thank God. You just have to have faith IN Him; that He IS alive; that He DOES speak; that He WILL answer you and grant you ears to hear if you ask for them; that He WILL keep his promise:
"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teachings. My father will love him and we will come and make our home with him."
That He IS calling to YOU when He and the Bride say,
"Come... take the gift of the water of life... FREE!" Let him who wishes, "Come." Let him who hears also say, "Come."
Peace to you as always,
tammy
peace to you!.
this thread is about false things (some) atheists think theists believe.
this is not a thread about false things that atheists think about theists.
I just want to also point out that earlier in this thread you mentioned that you stopped studying with JW's because you couldn't justify that 90% of the human race will be wiped out at armegeddon
And that meant that they would NEVER receive a resurrection... and I said 99%, lol... but those people were wiped out simply for not being a jw. It is even worse than the mainstream christian teaching that all who are not christians go to hell. (or at least, it covers even more people than the mainstream christian belief; although mainstream keeps changing, so its hard to know if that is a mainstream christian teaching or not anymore)
So they were being killed not because they had done anything wrong, or because they were harming and killing/enslaving/raping, etc, others. But just simply because they were not a jw. And they would never have a chance at life, even if they were those who did good to others.

Still not a single one of you answers the question whether God had the right to answer the cries of those who were BEING raped/murdered/harmed... who cried out to God to save them from those killing them. Instead you are defending those who did the murdering/raping/blood-spilling. Today you blame God for not doing what He did back then; while also blaming God for doing what He did back then.
Little children in the marketplace...
Tec wouldn't kill her child if God asked- the bullet or knife or plastic bag over the head would do it.
Really?
If I made this kind of comment to one of you, you'd be tearing your clothes, flailing your arms... how dare I bring your child into something like that, and make such a disgusting accusation against you. Well, I wouldn't make such a disgustingly personal comment... but it is no less disgusting coming out of your mouth. Especially as I already answered the question MANY times, to the opposite.
Nor does it compare to God.
God protected those who cried out to Him, those who belonged to Him... from those who were killing/enslaving them, including Pharoah who gave the order to murder every firstborn son of Israel at birth. Remember that?
God came in answer to those crying out to Him. He gave Pharoah and his people time and chances... over and over again. Started out just be saying to free them and showing a demonstration of his power. But Pharoah refused. After time and man chances, He finally said that death would pass over Egypt, and take the firstborn of every house. THEN and only THEN would Pharoah let them go. (Due to the outcry of his own people to/against him for allowing it to happen as much as the realization that he isn't powerful enough to fight the God of the Israelites) But EVEN then... EVEN THEN... God gave them a way to keep themselves AND their firstborns/children safe from death.
They had to listen to God... OVER Pharoah. And some did... saving themselves AND their children. (same as we must listen to Christ who tells us what to do to have life and not death... OVER the wts or other rocks and mountains (religious leaders and religions) Some listened to Pharoah... who could protect them from nothing. Same as the wts can protect its adherents from nothing. Still, Christ is calling His people out of her... so that they do not share in her sins.

No time to respond now, but I saw this and have to ask TEC about Lot's evil wife, since she clearly must've raped and torturing all those innocent visitors to Sodom. The evil beatch had it coming to her (as did the daughter's husbands, likely for playing a part in the gang-rapes).
LOL... for someone with no time to respond, you seem to have found time immediately after saying this ; )
Before I go to bed (right after this post)... nothing that you wrote above has been stated or even implied by me; and none of it has anything whatsoever to do with the point that people were crying out to God against S&G regarding the harm that S&G were doing to others. So stop trying to deflect from that point. I am also sure that the people you are responding on behalf of in your next post are quite capable of responding on behalf of themselves. So why don't you and I stick to OUR conversation... based on things I actually said?
Peace to you,
tammy

God did not kill them... He did allow Death to pass over Egypt. But not every firstborn in Egypt died... because all those who believed in and obeyed God put the blood of a lamb on their doorstep, and if that was Egyptians then they were also protected. Death could not enter those houses that were covered by the blood of the lamb. (foreshadowing death not being able to take those who are covered by Christ)
God gave Pharoah EVERY chance to stop doing wrong to the Israelites; He EVEN gave a way for anyone TO keep safe from Death. It is not like He did not first prove Himself through the nine previous plagues, leaving them no excuse not to believe the final plague would come to pass. Nor did Pharoah... and the people who put their faith in him, grinding the israelites under their heels as well... seem to think it so bad when he ordered every firstborn son of the Israelites to be put to death at birth. Remember what the Egyptians were doing to the Israelites?
(And firstborn does not mean child or infant... just means one who is first born... could have been old men even in their beds)

check out this gem from the dec 2013 km which explains why it's good to over this book a second go round.. "congregations previously considered this book during 2004 and 2005. however, for many of the approximately two million publishers who have come into the truth since then, this will be the first time that jehovahs endearing qualities have been discussed in detail.for those who studied the book before, the review will help them to deepen their appreciation forjehovahs attributes.ps.119:14".
i gotta kick out of this because i can only think of maybe two or three new ones in our congregation who weren't present when this book was first studied.
at the same time, going over jehovah's qualities isn't something new.
If we do the Revelation book in 2015..............
The revelation book is the straw that broke the camel's back for me... well, something in it that I had previously missed when reading it, that is. I ended my bible study and started a personal study; never went back. Felt a lot of guilt and fear at first... but that was temporary.
Peace to you!
