Aargh,

Reading through the list makes me shake my head in utter disbelief as to how I could have been under that control for so many years!

Looking back I am stunned that I allowed myself to be so totally at the mercy of the WT. Worse than that I actually believed and followed most of it.

That list should be plastered over every public forum possible to warn non JW's to stay far away from them - and allow those still in the borg to see how stupid it reads and plan their escape!

I am so grateful that I chose freedom

You showed amazing courage and conviction by your choice of moving to university. What a rewarding and eventful, happy life you have built for yourself.

If it wasn't for the control and blindness of JW's you're family would have been so proud of you. It is their loss indeed.

we are so very discouraged that you did not attend the d.c.. there are no two sides of this issue today.

Isn't it strange how when we were 'in' the Borg we kind of knew these judgemental attitudes were wrong but were conditioned to the 'them or us' attitude. Now that we are 'free' we can see the sheer hypocricy and total lack of love - of any sort.

It's certainly good to breath a fresher type of air now and be free from the bad taste of pious, self important attitudes and people.

Freedom means no more pretending!

There are no two sides of this issue today. If you are not a friend of Jehovah there is only one other side, that of his enemy, Satan

Just as we would have been loyal to you as our friend against your enemies if you had remained with our family,more than ever we feel total indignation of one choosing the side of Jehovah's enemy. How could we ever have anything in common as you stand now.

If ever you want our friendship again and that of our Heavenly Father please let us know and no one would be happier. Regretfully we say goodbye, ***** & ***** (this couple served on the circuit for decades)

Considering I faded and was never D/F'd I felt they were completely unloving and over the top. They live 3000 miles away - so why did they even have to be so vocal?

Strangely enough it didn't make me rush to the nearest KH. Quite the opposite in fact. Not the community I'd choose to be part of - under any circumstance now!

Does anyone remebr the "Rooming Work"

when a convention was to be held in your city and it was believed there weren't enough hotel rooms available or at least affordable ones, the witnesses living in that city were asked to go out into the territory and ask people if they had a room or rooms someone attending the convention could use.

you could report your time doing this as part of your ministry.

i could never bring myself (14 or 15) to do this....it just seemed too weird for a kid to go to a house and ask the householder for a room but many kids in the hall did this.

1982 - I remember doing rooming work in a very built up area of the city. It was mostly families who were from India or Pakistan who lived in the area and they had huge families themselves. Even though we knew that there was very little possibility of them speaking english or having any accomodation the elders insisted we knock all doors and ask!

Needless to say - not one address was obtained.

Crazy or what?
