  Anthony Morris III publicly admits that he doesn’t enjoy Field Service

  2pm, january 9, 2010 san juan, puerto rico.... jws from all over the island take turns to use the biggest coliseum in the caribbean (jose miguel agrelot coliseum).

  the big event... a brief 2-hour assembly featuring brooklyn bethel celebrities including anthony morris iii.

  there had been a lot of excitement building up in the days preceding this event as there were rumors circulating that the society had a very special announcement to make.. after 2 ambiguous talks from 2 bethel speakers, anthony morris iii finally takes the stage and everyone is so thrilled to see him up close or on the big screen behind the stage.

  I have no regrets about being Materialistic™! I love having a roof over my head, clothes to wear and food on the table!! LOL Oh, and the pension, my savings, my car, my vacations, my hobbies! I don't have a speck of guilt over not sharing any of it with that money-grubbing bunch of fraudsters. Oh, and if my JW parents decide to write me out of their will and give my share to the WTS, it won't make or break me financially, so I don't really care what they do with their money. They're not going to manipulate me with it.

  And that elder who gave you that advice, I wonder how HE lives? Probably makes a decent living, has a nice house, decent car, nice clothes, goes on vacations. But, he's pushing poverty for YOU . This is what I observed: the poverty being pushed was not for THEM - just somebody else. They wanted some poor sap in the congregation to do the experiment of living on the edge and buying clothing in thrift shops

  I shop in thrift stores. I find some real interesting stuff there. not that I am forced to though I just don't mind buying things there.

  The elder and his wife in question have led a very sheltered economic life. I've probably worked more hours in the last 10 years than he has in the last 20.

  He's not a wealthy man but he hasn't raised a family, and I think they were helped a lot financially by her parents and maybe they got some inheritance I'm not really sure.

  One thing I know for sure is that everyone that has followed his advice in the past(that I am aware of) has suffered financial problems because of listening to him.

  canada bethel laying off ppl in shipping

  so when the mags for north america + carribbean were to be printed in canada, canada bethel (aka georgetown) sent out notices to all disctrict conventions in 2008 that they need lots of help.

  i think the bethel family increased to over 400 with at least 50 new guys just for shipping.. however, now that the mags are only 16 pages, lots of those new guys are being layed off.

  the double shift (6-2,2-11) is now being combined into one shift (8-4/5 i guess).

  "You are probably right- the couple in the picture is in debt big time. I lived that picture. When I divorced my JW wife in 1998 she had run up $20,000 on the credit cards and I had to file a form of bankruptcy. I've recovered , but the typical JW view of finances is " oh well, the New system will be here soon, we won't have to pay anything off ! " I swear I've heard JWs say that very thing, including my JW ex-wife ! Really crazy. Peace out, Mr. Flipper"

  But at the wt study the comments will be made that they wanted to live beyond their means and that they desired to be rich, that is why they are in such trouble.

  financial problems are usually not very complex. Either you are not earning enough or you are spending too much or a combination of both.

  Flipper Jr. & Flipper Sr. Leave Child Abuse News Releases at Kingdom Halls

  of course everyone knows about the news of the candace conti child abuse case which has gone viral , ( one would have to live in a cave, under a rock, or another planet not to know about it ).

  that being said - it may very well be that those jehovah's witnesses who do not use the internet, or read newspapers, or in simple english are neanderthal's, still living in the 19th century or before , out of fear of negative reprisal from wt authorities may have not even heard about this case because they are in the habit of not watching the news or using the internet.. so- with those particular type of people in mind my son flipper jr. & myself decided to print up about 20 copies of the candace conti child abuse lawsuit from the england daily mail issue , here's the link : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2160605/candance-conti-molested-jehovahs-witnesses-member-age-nine-wins-28milion.html?ito=feeds-newsxml .. so what we did is since we are doing some out of town jobs in several counties we figured we'd leave these child abuse news releases under jw car windshields at kingdom halls while they are out in field service.

  we left about 15 so far at 3 different kingdom halls under car windshields .

  I did not explain myself very well.

  I was not referring to placing flyers on vehicles at the gas station. What I meant was opening the door on the side of the car where the gas cap is

  located and placing a folded flyer in that compartment and then closing it again so that the brother/sister would be away from the kingdom hall when

  they find their message of truth.

  Materialism (adj. materialistic) is the excessive desire to acquire and consume material goods. It is often bound up with a value system which regards social status as being determined by affluence (see conspicuous consumption) as well as the perception that happiness can be increased through buying, spending and accumulating material wealth. Positively, materialism might be considered a pragmatic form of enlightened self-interest based on a prudent understanding of the character of capitalist society. Negatively, it is considered a crass, if not false, value system induced by the spell of commodity fetishism and void of more noble and worthy values.

  one other issue I have had with "Materialism" is definition. The watchtower has never defined the meaning of the word as far as I know.

  If a person used the above definition of the word most hard working folks are not being materialistic by preparing for their financial future.

  They have no desire to live like a king. They live a frugal lifestyle with the realization that someday their body will be too old and tired to work like

  a 20 year old.

  it is obvious that they have overspent on their credit cards. But on what? The WT leaves it up to our imagination. Mine tells me that this medically

  uninsured window washer elder has just had a hernia operation a month ago, hasn't been able to work since and his regular pioneer unemployed

  wife has been helping rack up the credit card bills filling up the minivan with gas out in service. And they didn't have an emergency fund because

  one of the elders counseled them on being too materialistic!

  this caught my attention

  this is from paragraph 4:"You may also be anxious about the future and wonder"Will I have enough income after I retire?"

  so what exactly are they saying? That they think this system will go on long enough for us to retire???

  It seems to me that the Watchtower Society wants its' followers to make poor financial decisions on purpose. One elder told me that I just need

  to make enough to pay my bills and a little "extra" to contribute to the organization.

  It is a set up for failure. If a person doesn't generate sufficient cash flow it ends up costing you extra in the long run. It is like WT Wizard says. If

  you can afford to buy Quality products instead of cheap junk you will be way further ahead in the long run.

  It is designed to keep people dependant on each other and the watchtower and longing for the kingdom blessings. If jws were allowed to make

  responsible fiscal decisions(college, overtime, buying a house etc) the wt would lose a lot of the control over the sheeples.
