  Oliver Burkeman lives up to his name.

  His ill informed article was exposed by a proper science journalist at the Guardian, Adam Rutherford at this link

  Alas, in his feature, Oliver Burkeman has given, in my view, an insufficiently critical airing to some specious arguments put forward in a new book entitled What Darwin got Wrong. Authors Jerry Fodor and Massimo Piattelli-Palmarini are not evolutionary biologists, and have attempted to scrutinise evolutionary theory whilst simultaneously misrepresenting it.

  Fodor and Palamarini's book was thoroughly refuted in this article in The Boston Review

  Jerry Coyne has commented on this in his blog last week

  Burkeman is not even a science writer—he’s a “features” writer. What business does he have telling the public that everything they know about evolution is wrong? He appears to be motivated far more by an animus against Richard Dawkins, and a desire to write catchy and sensationalistic science journalism, than by a desire to get the facts. Burkeman is an ignorant fool. He belongs not at the Guardian but on page 3 of the Sun, where he can exaggerate and hyperventilate to his heart’s content.

  Popes letter to Ireland about Abuse....wow...who does this sound like?

  He is a mealy-mouthed old Nazi.

  The head of the church in Ireland, Sean Brady, refuses to resign unless ordered to do so by papa. 35 years ago he was part of a church court that took no action against Brendan Smyth for proven child sex abuse and forced two of his victims to sign a declaration of silence and forbid them to go to the police. Smyth went on to abuse countless more children.

  would you use the handicap stall that is big and roomy ... even if other smaller stalls were available?.

  If you're so handicapped that you can't walk across the parking lot, then maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't be driving.

  I would have thought the opposite is true. If you cant walk all the more reason to keep some independence by driving and having access to a parking space close to the door.

  By the way is it common to use the word "handicapped" in USA rather than disabled. If you are disabled does it bother you? It originates from pre-welfare days when disabled people had to go "cap in hand" begging for hand outs. "Invalid" is another label with negative origins. I have heard disabled people using these terms though, just wondering?

  i dare any christian out there to watch this video and try to defend your unloving, no mercy, no forgiveness faith/god that you all claim to have.. anyone in their right mind watches this in disgust.

  how can anyone want to serve a god that demands this type of vile behaivor towards others?.

  when this elder was pressed on the matter, he replied that it was because of all the years of laughing & sneering & mocking that he had put up with, quoting the scripture that goes along the lines of 'where is this promised presence of his'.. i realise now that this person is not loving.

  and yet, i would hear similar sentiments from others such as 'just wait until the end' or 'i wonder if they'll be saying that when jesus comes with his big sword'.. even as a jw pioneer, the thought of such a thing happening to people repulsed me.

  That is one of the best videos I have ever seen on free-thinking, thank you for posting it.

  I honestly believe that the adoration believers feel for god is a form of Stockholm Syndrome. How can you genuinely freely love somebody for saving you from eternal punishment at the hands of the person doing the saving? It is the very definition of an abusive relationship.

  nasticanasta, the question is not whether life on earth is heavenly but whether that should be our common goal. Talk of rewards and punishments in an imaginary afterlife are a cop out from our responsibility to make this world what it could be
