"Bush fiddles with economy while Baghdad burns"

an interesting article which somewhat reflects my own take on what i see happening.

please note that this does not put any judgement on whether i think it is a good thing or not so please do not "shoot the messenger".. whether you believe or accept the points or not it is an interesting read.

i personally think that the action bush has taken in the last few years has done more harm to the usa than it's enemies ever could which is surely a crime?..

You might do you self a favor Simon if you did not believe everything you read in the Guardian. Everybody in America can state their opinion; it is a ludicrous accusation to say people are having their freedom of speech curtailed. What’s happening however is people are responding to the left with criticism, basically exercising their freedom of speech and some on the left do not like that.

much better than ever changing polls and public opinion.. what do you think?

many believe that america 'cannot loose' as they have a massively more powerful force against guys with rifles but could they get bogged down for longer than expected?

    could the economy collapse?

      Differences between Americans and Iraqis
    1. We are conducting a homicide investigation becuase
      • This type of behavior is not accept
      • This type of behavior is not the norm
    2. I hate to tell you all but the guys in Cuba are by legal defintion'unlawfull combatants' which means they dont fall under the Geneva convention. that being said
      • They still have access to the red cross
      • There relgious rights are being observed
      • They are not being tortured
      • They are not being starved
      • They are not being hooked up to car batteries
      • And there is no evidence they are being mistreated
      • They are being allowed to write home
    3. First hand accounts from former detainers carry almost no weight in my book, if you want to believe some relgious fanatic fine
    4. Unlike the Iraqis if these things actually did happen the gulity parties should be punished, I am waiting for more evidence than an article in the Gurdian.
    5. Basically your logic runs like this
    • Supposed American injustices that are not the norm = Iraqi injustices that are.
    • Moral equivalancy at its finest

Do you think there is actually a moral equivalency between the way Americans treat the prisoners in Cuba and the way the Iraqis treated the Americans. It is obvious that many of the American soldiers were shot in the head execution style. That does not happen in Cuba. Or put more bluntly can you honestly say you would rather be an American prisoner in Iraqi hands than an Al-quida(sp?) prisoner in Cuba?
Remember when you refute this scale counts, we are looking at the rule not the exception.
