If Losch indeed realizes it's "MAY" (i.e. faith) rather than "KNOW" (i.e. facts), he should insist that shunning be dropped immediately - at LEAST in the case of voluntary DA - and push it on the rest of those jokers. If it's true that Knorr admitted 1914 is a "possibility" and we can't really know for sure, then why in the bloody hell are people losing their families over this kind of crap?

And you're right about there not being any direction. It's been said more than once that the last remotely interesting/charismatic/intelligent leader the org had was Franz, and everybody since has been an absolute zero. I've heard Jaracz, Losch and Splane give public talks and I can't argue with that sentiment if they are the "direction", "leadership, "brains", and "personality" of the WT...

i was thinking about the fact that the society is changing all the lingo that is associated with the new world order, new system and the like.

what i was wondering is if it is important to get away from this phrasing, what are they going to do with the new world translation?

do you think they will start publishing it under a new name?

The "Faithful and Discreet Slave" would be restored to its rightful place in the New Testament as it was originally mentioned 4096 times but removed by conspirators.

The WT discourages pride, and for good reason. Anything that even remotely challenges the status quo is instantly seen as prideful.

The simple fact is, if the JWs who were (understandably and rightfully) ashamed of the WT actually started to take pride in themselves, they would stop being Faithy Discreety's bitch and kick its Slavey ass to the curb.

Today the options for a young JW's spiritual career are:

1) Serve at Bethel doing, most likely, something very menial.

2) Knock on doors 70-100+ hours a week.

3) Knock on doors 50-70 hours a week.

4) Knock on doors 25-50 hours a week.

And that, folks, is pretty much it. Not exactly a breeding ground for intellectual development.

Yeah, back in the day you could actually buy a book written by a JW in good standing in a book store.

But "Faith on the March" has now become "Faith on the Schlep" or "Faith on the Slog".

Mormons may be a cult but they at least have an air of respectibility, intelligence and dignity in spite of their founder because 1) they've actually reformed for the better in some respects and 2) they're BIG on education. Hell, they have their own respected colleges. Can you imagine the WT opening up a college? What could they possibly teach that wouldn't cause doubts? And the Mormons, almost to a person, are almost universally and ridiculously nice. You can't help but like these people. JWs? I would have said the same thing at one time, but now I'm not so sure.

It's funny. I was watching their new "Creation Reveals God's Wonders" (I think that's the title). As WT fare goes, it wasn't terrible, just very bland and intellectually middling like everything else they put out. But the one part of the video that made me chuckle unintentionally was the scenario asking "What if Jehovah was an unloving God and everything was the same"? It showed a greyish-white room with people in greyish-white clothing waiting in line to be served gloppy greyish-white oatmeal-looking food. I thought to myself, "Christ, it's a District Convention!"

i almost missed this in my last post, but i just realized how important and must list it.

paragraph 14 from jan 15, 2010 wt last article entitled "jehovah's way of ruling vindicated".

"a few anointed members of "the israel of god" still remain, and as jesus' brothers, they continue to act as "ambassadors substituting for christ (2 cor 5:20) they have been appointed as a faithful and discreet slave class to care for and provide spiritual food for annointed ones and a growing crowd of christians, who now include millions having the hope of living on earth forever.

Actually, when you think about it, this kind of logic explains the twisted reasoning behind policies like the blood transfusion policy.

You may eat bacon.

You may eat lettuce.

You may eat tomato.

But God forbid you should eat a BLT.

So let me get this straight:

As a GROUP, all anointed are F&DS.

But INDIVIDUALLY, they aren't?

In other words, when the FDS prepares itself spiritual food, it's the FDS, but not the FDS when it actually eats?

To illustrate:

Let's say I have a company which is a sole proprietorship, A.C. Enterprises. I am the sole employee and therefore sole beneficiary.

So I go to the post office. I send a package addressed to myself, Agonus Cataphractus, but I pay the shipping doing business as A.C. Enterprises.

A day later I, Agonus Cataphractus, receive my package from A.C. Enterprises. But, technically, legally, I did not send a package to myself, though in reality you and I both know that's exactly what I did.

Am I getting warmer?

Is this kind of like, "The Truth" is not really the truth?

Just like the two different Watchtower magazines are somehow "Not Two Different Watchtower Magazines?"

Nine year old baptized

this weekend at the circuit assembly, (i stayed home, thank goodness), i heard a nine year -old girl was baptized.

and she seems a bit mature for her age, but hardly mature enough,in my opinion, to make such a choice on her own.

it seems to be a trend in our circuit right now.

And the perfect Son of God waited HOW long to get baptized? 'Nuff said.

Some Conclusions I Have Reached

i wonder if everyone here who has kept up with me since i left jw's realize why i have been coming on here.

it certainly has been cool to know that some of my experiences and opinions have helped some.

i hope they know that i have been equally helped by others.. i come here primarily for me.

Some scars don't heal. Such is the human condition. You either learn to deal with it or you let it keep you from achieving your potential. No one is better or worse either way. We're all walking wounded, it just sucks that some of the cuts closest to the bone come from those who were the ones who claimed that adopting their belief system and way of life would heal old wounds rather than create new ones.

Check out the insightful "Comments You Will Not Hear at the Watchtower" podcast. It hightlights the org's stressing young people to wait until they're "past the bloom of youth" (whatever that means) to marry, because of lack of maturity... and yet, they're encouraging kids as young as 7 to get baptized (I shit you not, this was from a D.O.).
