New here...
by hereiam! insorry if this starts off as a kind of a downer.. i am 29, and my husband and i have stopped going to meetings since last october.
we live in mexico and used to attend the english.
long story short, after realizing how many much we've been lied to we stopped going to our meetings, moved out of the territory, switched to spanish, and after a month of attending just vanished.

There were many “gems” in my circuit assembly. The district and the circuit overseers were exactly the same persons. Same tone, same charisma almost the same speech pattern. They used a lot derogatory terms to refer to the apostate, calling them animals, beasts, dogs, fleshly men, rats, fools, and of course demon possessed. There was a sketch/demonstration showing a brother using a social-network website and the internet to find information about the WT, his name was brother “gullible” his father’s name wasbrother “overly confident”, they were both mocked.
They called academics and financial goals a false dream and an illusion. Because those “things have made some of our brothers leave our Real Home…The Organization” (those were the exact words from the speaker).
One of the talks mentioned that doubts, bad association, materialism, technology, cell phones, computers, etc have become or could become a danger to our “spirituality”. That if we perceive that those things are affecting us, to act in accordance to the advice from the GB/FDS, “IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH” (exact words from the speaker).
Another thing that I noticed was that in certain talks they raised the volume to extremely high levels, specifically for the public talk.
Oh…also they said that we might know some FADERS that have wandered off the flock who might appear to be doing well financially and looking happy and content! My jaw dropped for like the 1,000 th time when I heard this.
Again, this is what played out in my circuit…but it was actually fun to hear and notice the GB’s desperation, I read to my wife selected portions of Steve Hassan’s (combating…) chap 4 & 5 and she said… “those things described what I’ve been noticing…and that’s what this assembly was all about”. (Pg 78 Doctrine is reality, Pg 80 Elitist Mentality, Pg 82 Manipulation through Fear and Guilt.)
But after I read the following quote to my wife, she stopped for a moment to think and meditate…I noticed that something sunk in her mind:
Pg 45 parg. 4 “What do phobias have to do with cult groups and mind control? In some cults, members are systematically made to be phobic about ever leaving the group. Today’s cults know how to effectively implant vivid negative images deep within member’s unconscious minds, making it impossible for the member to ever conceive of ever being happy and successful outside of the group. (bold mine).

It is obvious to me, that their self imposed authority is being challenged like never before in the history of the WT Organization. All thanks in part to the flow of information from the Internet, among other things.
Here is a summary of what the ENTIRE program was about:
· Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer, Pioneer.
· Pioneering elevates our spirituality. Pioneers are the happiest, wiser, most matured, Christians=JW you’ll ever meet. They contribute to the peace and unity of the congregation.
· The World outside the WT Org is an evil place, Satanas El Diablo!! is out to get us. There is nothing of real value in any activities other than theocratic activities. In almost every talk they bashed non-JW and depicted the word as a living hell, I mean in every single talk they did this in so many different way.
· If you are Single: stay single, don’t preoccupied yourself looking for a mate..Pioneer; if Married: don’t have children they are a stumbling block on your pursue of a theocratic career as a Pioneer. If you are Parent/s: Pioneer and train your children to become a pioneer one day…just like daddy and mommy or both.
· Praise the GB and the Organization.
· “Don’t look for water from other fountains” all that you need to know about God and the Bible we are providing it to you. We know that some are doing this, and it is wrong.
· If you have doubts…it’s your fault, there is something wrong with you. You should not questions the truths provided by the GB.
· Stay way from the Internet, Facebook or any other social network.
They honored the wonderful work that evil apostates are doing at planting seeds of doubts in many. They mentioned apostasy several times. They also advised to stay away from doubting active JWs…including elders! The opening prayer included a plead to protect the “Organization from the intense attacks launched by their enemies”.
At the end of the program, the Circuit Overseer ask the audience, “Are you afraid?...if not you should be”. Because there are only two outcomes to all of this, you’ll ether enjoy a wonderful everlasting life in the new world or you’ll be fertilizer (manure)”.
Well…I’m that is why I’m presenting my formal dissociation from this Forum or any other apostate website. “Mother” is calling, I’ll fill out my Pioneering application because I want to be among the happiest people in the world.....

Stayed up all night, see it is a cult now.
by gutted ini really needed to find a place to write this as i don't believe i can talk with anyone else about my account, perhaps it is similar to a lot of yours.. last night for whatever reason i said i would go online and look up information on jws.
i have been raised as a jw all my life and baptized the last few years.
i looked at www.freeminds.org and www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and couldn't believe how easily the whole of my lifes teachings were refuted.. i can't stop my brain from running, bs just in regards to theology alone (1914, paradise earth, celebrations etc.

Welcome to the board. As you can see, there are thousands of JW and Ex-JW that have experienced what you are now going through.
The advices are great, but I’ll reinforce that you need to, above everything…take it slow…don’t rush, and please please DON’T TRUST ANYONE & DON’T TALK TO ANYONE!!

I also recommend you buying the book “Crisis of Conscience” and Steve Hassan’s “Combating Cult Mind control”
I recommend you getting the PDF version of Crisis of Conscience and saved it on a usb drive that only YOU have control of. This will help you keep the book in ‘secret’.

Eternal Life On Earth? You mentioned questions regarding life on earth. As for the manner of the resurrection and all the details, I don’t see reason for dogmatism. Likewise as regards life on earth. I am perfectly happy to wait to see what the eternal destiny of people will be according to God’s disposition, and I feel we are wise not to pretend to be so certain that we know all there is to know on the subject. When people write about this I usually respond that as to one’s hope, I can only urge that it be tempered with a willingness to recognize that our understanding is rarely something beyond adjustment or increase. When a promise is clearly and definitely stated in Scripture, we can not only hope for its fulfillment but have conviction of it, faith in it. That is true of the hope of forgiveness of sins, of the resurrection, of the hope of life everlasting. These hopes are spelled out clearly and extensively, even repeatedly, in the Christian Scriptures. This is a very interesting topic. As a matter of fact, it is one that I’d like to do more research on in the future. You have all brought up man thought provoking comments. (Man!…this is a lot better than a WT study at KH).
I share “angus” ideas regarding the afterlife. I don’t want to be overly concern with the place where that afterlife will be (unless there really is a place of everlasting torment. Yikee!). I rather hold on to the promise that there will be a resurrection, that I’ll be reunited with my loved ones, where there’ll be no more suffering, death, sorrow, etc. But above all, that regardless of the location…that dwelling place will be in the presence of God.
One thing I do know for sure…there is more to life than this.
