  ... a circuit overseer?.

  that first scene, with the searingly tense, sinister, faux-friendly visit and "conversation" over the glass of milk... the loaded-gun smile, and ominous bookbag... something about his manner made think of some just horrific shepherding call.. (and no, i am not literally equating cos/elders with nazis... i am just saying the tone was reminisent, to me, of such meetings.).

  Sorry to disagree, but I loved the video by the Society. One of my favourites. I cried tears of gratefulness and joy over it and had my children watch it too. They enjoyed it. Of course that was when we believed in it... The most emotional moment for me was when the unbelieving father attends the assembly where the youngster tells his experience (my husband being an unbeliever, it's understandable). My son was very touched too.

  Inkling, thanks for pointing out that film. I hadn't even heard of it, but the preview I've just seen looks good. I'm going to download it now.

  Sunk Costs

  it is interesting that many who do not believe any more or others with good thinking abilities choose to remain a witness.

  i believe that the sunk costs are the reason... i will explain more below.

  i also think this is why maybe even the governing body or other decision-makers at bethel are so reluctant to own up to real truth.

I was digging inside myself just now to discover why I found it so easy to take the big jump and, as I read on further comments on your thread, Cantleave helped me find the answer: my kids.   Straightshooter, I was born and raised in Madrid. But it was really cold today too! The northern half of Spain is also full of snow. Although it's true, the sunshine was shining on it... It will soon melt.

  PSacramento, thank you so much for sending the photo! Your family is beautiful, and I loved the loving words you used to refer to them. Now I'll have your picture in my mind every time I read one of your posts.

  Awildflower, I've also checked your first posts... You are an excellent writer. Your story is fascinating. And... tears are still rolling down my face after I read your post "I want to thank my children"... I have no words to describe what I felt. You so made me think of my own kids (10 and 8). Just beautiful...
