i've often said that the term/description "atheist" tell us so little.
the author below provides some descriptions that are more meaningful.. .
upon reviewing the list, i'm of the opinion that "religious atheists" are very common, but they are also likely to be "closet atheists".. .
So let's see how many hyphens I can get...

Kind of a load of bull, if you ask me. I like to think of myself as a human being. Everything else, I'll leave for others to fuss over.

The local COBE has a reputation of tracking down inactives and turning on the pressure - either come back or DA. I have experienced this recently and it is unsettling to say the least. It feels like harrassment and abuse to me.

Wow, you definitely have cause for concern! My thoughts are in line with what others have said - I wouldn't try to get into a scriptural battle over such a divisive issue. He is no doubt already being trained to expect "opposition", especially from family.
Instead, I might perhaps tell him that if he is truly interested in this religion, some research on its history would be prudent. After all, the WTS urges members of other religions to really examine their respective churches. The same level of scrutiny should be given to this religion that claims to have the truth. And if it really is the truth, then its history, teachings, actions, and claim to be god's mouthpiece would all stand up to that scrutiny.

ok so if we adapted and evolved then we would have a lot of evidence of our predecessors right?
and not only a couple of hard to identify skeletons, why havent we found hundreds of bones, bones or remains of tribes of our predecessors?
why such big steps in evolution and not gradaully evolving steps?

Fossilization is a rare event and needs the right circumstances to even have a chance. For example, chimpanzee fossils of any kind are extremely rare, probably because of their habitat - forested areas, which are not conducive to the fossilization process.
Actually there are many many bones and fossils that have been found are now easily identifiable to those trained to do so. Many, many examples of homo, australo, and others have been and continue to be found. Those who tell you that there are just "a few hard to identify skeletons" are probably the same ones who write books like, "Life - How Did Get Here? By Evolution or By Creation?", to name just one.

" if you actually opened your books, i'm paraphrasing, but that's pretty close to the actual quote.. i remembered this quote from sometime ago, but couldn't understand how people overlooked this obvious violation of galatians 1:8: "even though we or an angel out of heaven should declare to you as good news something beyond what we preached, let him be accursed.".
of course, the answer is obvious: many jws don't pay attention to what they read.

.. needless to say, milder-mannered faith-heads are falling over themselves to disown pat robertson, just as they disowned those other pastors, evangelists, missionaries and mullahs at the time of the earlier disasters.. what hypocrisy.. loathsome as robertson's views undoubtedly are, he is the christian who stands squarely in the christian tradition.
the agonized theodiceans who see suffering as an intractable 'mystery', or who 'see god' in the help, money and goodwill that is now flooding into haiti , or (most nauseating of all) who claim to see god 'suffering on the cross' in the ruins of port-au-prince, those faux-anguished hypocrites are denying the centrepiece of their own theology.
I'm sure Mr. Dawkins is quite accustomed to drawing the ire of Christians the world over. He does tend to use some fightin' words, doesn't he? I love his books and agree with some of his views, but I don't share his need to pick fights with christians or others.
