  i believe it is mostly guilt.

  many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.

  they may have secretly "sinned" against rules imposed by the organization.

  ray franz inherited all the riches this world had to offer, why did he not keep his mouth shut and enjoy being treated like a god like tony morris or the rest of the octopope?

  ray's conscience began to bother him by the terrible treatment he witnessed by his peers on the governing body.

  he had a heart, what about the men like anthony morris, does he have a heart or the moral fiber to confess the governing body is only a concept and not a real bible based entity?.

  Help me Plz (teen issues)

  i have bdd, it isn't just the meetings it's everything.

  i don't want to go but i feel guilty of not going cause he said everyone is wondering where i am, but i dont want anyone to see my face... and tomorrow they said they'll call me to make sure im going but it's so tough.

  also how do i cancel talks thx.. .

  Demokan, I wonder if you are referring to BDD?

  The general consensus on JWN is that membership of the WBTS is bad for our mental health. This manifests in a myriad of ways and disorders.

  Gradually (and skilfully) getting out of a situation that causes Cognitive Dissonance is potentially a useful first step. ("Mom & Dad, something at the hall is making me feel ill, and I can't put my finger on it. I'll try to go once a month and let you know if and when it passes").

  Our mental health is also tied in with physical, spiritual and social health.

  A good Psychologist (that will not try to pressure you into taking destructive, synthetic and addictive psychoactive drugs) can be a big help (talking medicine, and CBT).

  Gradually getting and staying fit will also help.

  Being young and dependant on your parents you may need to fill your time with as many positive school and community activities as you can. Helping others out is a really good way to exit the teen years intact, balanced and healthy.

  Maybe your school guidance counsellor can assist you with part-time voluntary placements for a week or month until you find things that work for you and people you could relate to.

  Also try to get advice from many good sources to cancel out bias and bad advice.

  Try not to freak your parents out, and try for win-win compromises.

  The teen years are a challenge by themselves (without further complications such as religion).

  I pray for a steady course and for healing over time.

  i know for me it was soon after lurking here for awhile and reading some threads on the issue.

  i remenber when i tore it into little tiny pieces.

  it felt so liberating..

  Did not fill in the associated legal paperwork (Australia) for about three-and-a-half years.

  Then probably removed the card from my wallet when we walked out for good mid-2009.

  What a simple and yet powerful idea.

  These days many use Google to check out people, groups, new ideas and so on.

  If jw.org is being promoted by the WBTS, householders will Google it.

  And ordinary people like us can influence what they will find.

  Anyone who is passionate about a particular topic can write good content which Google is designed to recognise and reward.

  Just search for "rhetorical fallacy" using inverted commas and see what comes up in the results (roughly second from the top)...

  I suppose the Watchtower may be right - they do not solicit. Instead they coerce. Apparently their god (the god of religion) needs our money to finance their campaign to advance religion (legalism) and bury the liberating gospel (the Good News).
