Don't buy anything at the meat market or yard sales or else you could turn out like me?
by dissed ini don't know how this happened and how they met, but a relative, a jw elder and my old po talked about us leaving the wts.
(he said this to my wife).
they reasoned, how could someone, who was a pioneer, bethelite, worked at the rbc, district and circuit level, taught at the pioneer school, helped dozens to baptism, suddenly and inexplicably, leave jehovah's organization?.

I've noticed many JW's will stop and shop at yard sales, but are very careful as to what they will buy. Some will say, its better to be safe. And if you start to have some sort of a problem 'after' buying something, some will advise others to toss it out.
This wacky PO, was on the extreme side, "don't go to them at all."

I've mentioned here before how that conversation effected my brother in law. He not only is an Elder, but has his masters in Education. And yet him and his wife, took everything we ever gave them, over a course of 25 years, and destroyed it all. One painting valued at over $5,000 usd. They feel strongly, we not only brought demons into their house, but our demonic influence caused her to become seriously mentally off.
They also feel, its our demonic influence led to all their children leaving the truth.
One of the points I'm always trying to convey, there is a better life outside the JW's. We are not 'flaming Apostates', we are very happy since leaving, and they can not explain it. So, my old wacky PO came up with a winner of a story. "Its the demons! And our buying stuff at yard sales is what brought them into our lives" One more thing, his service group NEVER stopped at yard sales. It was wrong to do so as a JW. He's also serving part-time as a CO now. Feel sorry for the congregations he visits.

Jamie Bowers - They are not going any place special like that. We are in Flagstaff, Az.....not much near here except Meteor Crater or the Grand Canyon.

No, not the movie. But my daughters final prom as a high school senior. Although to a JW parent, the real thing could be just a scary as the horror flick. "No daughter of mine is going to no Satanic, worldly, drug abusing, spiked punch, sex dancing-crazy orgy of a prom"
But times have a changed for us. OUR daughter gets to go to hers. And no, its not as bad as the JW's make it out to be. (although some here wish it was) lol
And sure its a big thing for her and her friends as they have been shopping for dresses, doing the hair, make up and nail thingys. We are almost as excited as they are. I even volunteered to be a Chauffer, will even wear a suit (if it still fits) AND my driving cap. "I will do my part to look the part"
And I also want to make sure they arrive everywhere safely. So here is my schedgule.
5:30 = Take them to the restaurant
7:45 - Take them to the dance
12:00 - Take them to the 'after dance' at the VFW building
4:00 AM - Pick them up and take them to Denny's, for the 'after the Prom, after the dance' breakfast.
5:00 AM - Take them home
Building memories outside the WTS is a nice thing for our family. Inside the JW's, many of those memories would never have happened. I'm very happy our family is sharing in this one.
Were you allowed to go to the Proms and school dances? If the answer was yes, what was your experience? Any warnings I should know about.
How did you feel at the time? Was it fair?

You guys handled yourself very well.
Being on the otherside at one time, I could not imagine having someone come back so directly, especially a JW sister. Bravo for you!
Those Elders had several things on their prepared agenda, but the one that was eating at them, and one they will have to answer to the body, will be the Xmas decorations.
You guys gave a convoluted answer. Your husband, said "not me" and you, "none of your business". That's not specific enough to proceed to JC at this time. Telling you to send a letter, no matter how kindly spoken, is an acknowledgement that they have given up on you, but not your husband. You must have been aweful convincing for an Elder to lose it that way. Again Bravo!
Overall, it sounds like you gave them plenty to proceed further, if they want to. But you came across as simply, you just quit the WTS, want nothing to do with it, and more importantly, have found a much better way to live. Having your husband a bit quiet, may give them pause, thinking they still have a chance to save him.
Glad it went so well for you and so bad for them. "Rats! We lost another one"
