I'm 43 Today

and it's my first birthday.

just thought i would share this.........a brother who used to be a mercenary before he came into the truth gave the talk at the hall yesterday and he said that the bible was like jehovah's cv.....it told us everything about him.....so we can really know him.. he also said with all the governments and all the rules and regulations in the world, and nothing working at the moment, we should appreciate that jehovah only has 2 laws.............love him above all other things, and love our neighbours..........if only the whole world obeyed those 2 laws there would be peace without the need for armageddon................so its all down to humans why things are going wrong.. if we abandoned the planet tomorrow the earth would repair itself and there would be peace and harmony in nature.......... man has really messed up.. thank goodness we have had the chance to know jehivah and have a hope for the future!!.

Yes, it really does allow you to know him. The bible is full of his works, genocide, hatred, jelousy, rape, incest, pillaging, all in his name. Then there is the tiny tiny segment where is says the two laws you mentioned, loving your neighbor, etc... oh yea, thats from Jesus, not jehovah. Then it goes right back to mind me or all is death and destruction.

Rob do you think there will be a mass amount of people with HIV trying to come to the US to have sex with our citizens? Come on, we aren't that sexy. The problem doesn't have borders. Its here now and this is not going to increase it. For that matter, people with HIV have safe sex all the time. Its all of our responsibilities to know who we are sleeping with and to use protection.

i apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.

yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.

apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

This is a good thing. HIV is not contagious by incidental contact. This ban was outdated and needed to be ended.

Why would GOD instruct those HE loves to suffer in that way? Be wise as your Father is wise and adjust to this wicked world until The Kingdom of GOD provides all of the neccesities of life for "Free".......

I think I just threw up in my mouth. I haven't followed your posts, Son, but you must not have read that book clear through. This is the god that wants to destroy anyone that doesn't acknowledge him. He's had his followers commit genocide in the past, wipe out entire civilizations of peaceful (for the most part) people so that he could consoliate his power base. He himself says he's a jealous god and will not tolerate disobedience.

That son of his, the one who's nickname you so blithely take as your own (some hubris in that), said that we would have all of our needs met NOW if we had enough faith. Guess all those folks who are waiting and working 3 jobs just don't have enough faith, huh? Or how about all those church-going people that outsource the jobs to Malaysia to get cheap labor and lay off the church-going people here that are just trying to make a living. Whats the predominate religion in Malaysia?

And what about the people that pray that the hurricane doesn't kill them, just like the neighbor across the street is praying. One gets killed and the other doesn't. Why did your god "listen" to one and not the other?

What about the young catholic boy or the jw boy (or lots of other religions for that matter), who prays every night, but who gets raped by the very shepherd claiming to protect the flock?

Yea, no one is perfect, I get that. But that book of yours makes a lot of promises and I just don't see any of them coming true.

Son, yes I was speaking of the bible.

Meangirl, like always, they leave off the rest of the story. The part where the unbelieving wife-beater now becomes a believing wife-beater. A mecca for someone like that because its a place where women are powerless or pretty much.

Sorry, I don't mean it was ok the one time by any means. I remember at the time he apologized (all abusers do) and said, lets go to Dairy Queen and get an ice cream cone. I was still pretty pissed and said, "what, so you can appease your conscience?" I think it had more to do with that than anything. He left the beatings to my mom after that so he couldn't be accused of hitting a woman. Didn't help my brothers, though.

Son, I have read that book lots of times, 7 times, to be exact. I want nothing to do with that book. Of the sum total of its parts, about 5% teaches love, if that much. The vast bulk of it teaches rape, genocide, aggression, and jealousy and violence. I want nothing to do with any religion that claims to worship the 5% and in reality acts out the other 95% most of the time.

The next big Internet HAMMER BLOW to the Watchtower!

within a year or so, the internet will be 'opened up' to allow users to create full web and e-mail-addresses using non-latin characters.

the critical examination and companionships we have enjoyed for the past 15 years will become easily available to nationals in their own language.. imagine if the internet had been created and developed in chinese or urdu - how much use would that have been to you?

soon, our lovely apostate friends around the world will be spreading the news in their own language!.

I agree that this is another chip in the vessel, but hardly a hammer blow. That being said, all these chips are adding up. Still, I would have thought that old vessel would have cracked a long time ago. They are a resiliant lot.
